Sarah Glenn is a leg-spinning all-rounder who plays for the England women’s cricket team. A hard-hitting batter down the order, Glenn made her England debut in 2019 on the back of a stellar Kia Super League Season.
The gorgeous cricketer represented Derbyshire in all domestic competitions and jotted impressive numbers for them, ever since her domestic debut in 2013.
She was a seamer in her initial playing days but switched to leg-spin after being inspired by footage of Shane Warne.
Her breakthrough season came in the 2019 Kia Super League campaign. The Derby-born took 11 wickets at an average of 18.72, with an economy of just over 6 runs per over. Such high performances led to her selection in the national team in December 2019.
Then, the Central Sparks leggie was named in England’s squad for the ODI series against Pakistan in Malaysia. Subsequently, Sarah made her ODI debut in the first match of the series and took 2 wickets in the match. The tweaker took 8 wickets in the three-game series and was touted as the future of English cricket by skipper Heather Knight.
Glenn was called up in the England squad for the 2020 Women’s T20I World Cup. The Lionesses reached the semifinals of the tournament and the leg spinner scalped 6 wickets with an economy of just over 4 runs per over.
In 2020, England played a five-match T20I series against West Indies, and Glenn was declared the player of the series for her scintillating display with both bat & the ball. She took 7 wickets in the series and also contributed a quickfire 26 of just 19 deliveries in the second T20I match, as England won the series 5-0.
The Perth Scorchers cricketer in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) has had a great honeymoon period so far in international cricket. Within one year of her international debut, she was considered by many as one of the best all-round players in women’s cricket at the moment. Her wicket-taking abilities to go along with her lower-order hitting makes her a valuable asset to the England squad.
