That's it from our coverage of the 16th fixture of the Pakistan National T20 2022 between the Sindh and Southern Punjab hosted by Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. We hope you enjoyed our coverage. Megh Mandaliya here, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Saipavan Janaki and scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar. The players will now earn a much-needed breathing space for two days and we will be back live with another doubleheader on Saturday from Multan. Till then, stay safe and connect us for other fixtures around the globe.
Saud Shakeel (Sindh Captain): “I was confident about my batting and therefore we went with an extra batter. Thus, we backed our batting strengths and we have achieved the results we wanted. The bowlers also deserve equal credit. especially Mir Hamza; he bowled exceptionally today. We started this leg on a high and we also accomplished to end it on a high. Looking forward to the Multan leg.
Agha Salman ( Southern Punjab Captain): "Yeah at the toss that time and we lost the key moments. We lost early wickets in the first 10 overs. Some experience players are missing so that is the reason for runs. We are a young side and inexperienced and we have 4 games in our home town and hope we turn the table. 175 is a good total but we fail to take wickets in powerplay and leaked runs of 60-70 and wickets are not there so they chased easily"

Saim Ayub (Player of the match): “I would like to share my man of the match award with Omair as he also truly deserved it. The wicket was brilliant for batting and I'm extremely happy with the implementation today. I have bull backing from the management and I have the license to play dominating cricket throughout the match."

It is time for the post-match presentation...
5:39 IST | Megh: That concludes the 16th group fixture of Pakistan National T20 2022 between the Southern Punjab and Sindh. The Sindh have won this encounter by 6 wickets and they would be pleased with their performance today in all the departments.

In pursuit of 176, Sindh secured 67 of the powerplay and powered them to an assertive start. The bowlers of Southern Punjab were constantly ticking short of length and both the openers capitalized on that comfortably. Sharjeel Khan started the fire and maximized on every loose delivery while Saim Ayub was playing the second fiddle. Sharjeel fired all the corners of the ground and secured a quick fire 49 (26) before throwing his wicket away to Ali Majid. Both the southpaws stitched a partnership of 83 and gave Sindh a momentous start. After the wicket of Sharjeel, Saim continued his exquisite form and went to score 56 (35), including seven boundaries and two maximums.

Till the time Ayub returned back, the Sindh had complete control of the game, and composed innings of Omair Yousuf’s 54 (35) and Captain Saud Shakeel’s 14 (16) handed Sindh a mammoth victory in the end. Hassan Khan was the only bowler in Southern Punjab’s camp whose economy rate was under 6 while grabbing two wickets in the death overs. Mohammad Ilyas and Ali Majid grabbed a wicket each but they were utterly expensive.

Before that, after winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Sindh started on an electrifying note as Mir Hamza got the better of out-of-shape Zeeshan Ashraf 1 (4) in the first over. However, Zain Abbas and Muhammad Shehzad stitched a partnership of 40 and loosened the screws for Southern Punjab. Soon after, Abrar Ahmed brought Sindh back into this contest by claiming two wickets in the same over. The right-arm leg-break first got rid of Shehzad 15 (17) followed by the big wicket for Captain Agha Salman 0 (3). Ahmed bowled slowly and gripped the delivery from the surface; he finished his stint on 3/30.

Abbas, who was looking assertive and playing well square of the wicket soon lost his wicket to Asif Mehmood. The southpaw secured 48 (34), including five boundaries and one maximum. Post that wicket, Southern Punjab could never bounce back and Sindh kept chipping wickets at regular intervals. The Southern were falling like dominoes before the pyrotechnics of Hassan Khan 48 (29) and Mohammad Ilyas 25 (11) resurrected the Southern’s innings and landed them to a competitive total of 175/6. Ultimately, Sindh came out victorious and will attain two important points to station themselves in the second position on the table. Stay Tuned for the Post-match presentation!
