Ali Imran (Northen Captain): “I feel we were low on experience but I will back my team. It was also my first game as a captain and there were some nerves. We lost wickets early in the middle and never really accelerated the innings in the first half.”
Saud Shakeel (Sindh Captain): “Pitch was better than the last game. We were targeting 200 but we lost a quick wicket in the death. Our bowling attack is performing really well and everyone is chipping in with wickets. I am really happy with today’s performance and we look forward to the rest of the tournament."
Saim Ayub (Player of the match): “We improvised our batting a little from yesterday’s game. Captain gave me freedom and I wanted to be assertive in the field while scoring runs for my team.”
Chasing 191, Northern got off to a poor start losing both
their openers for 10. Nasir Nawaz and Zeeshan Malik put on a decent partnership
with 54. Nawaz went for 39 off 21 and soon Malik departed for 29. Mubashir Khan(33 off 25) and Sohail Tanvir(21 off 14) kept hitting but the target was too much for them. A Jamal and M Mumtaz scored unbeaten 13 and 16 of not many balls at the end to get Northern to 180 in pursuit of the target of 191 and fell short by 10 runs.
The Sindh bowling was impressive led well by Mir Hamza who got 3 for 33 in his 4-over spell. Mahmood and S Ayub chipped in with a wicket a piece and Sohail Khan got 2 wickets in the end after going for runs in his initial spell. A good performance here by Sindh bowlers.
Sindh Batting 1st, Sindh did not get an ideal start losing Sharjeel Khan for
just 8. Omair Bin Yousuf came in at 3 and stitched a good partnership of 41.
Yousuf departed for 18 thereafter. Shakeel coming in at 4 scored a good 20 and built
a brilliant partnership of 85 with Saim Ayub. Ayub was the star of the show
as he played an outstanding knock of 92 off just 52 balls opening the innings to get them to 190 for 7.
The Northern bowlers leaked plenty of runs. Barring Tanvir who picked 3 for 28 in his spell and S Irshad, the rest of the bowlers had a disappointing day.
A complete performance here by the Sindh side gives them back-to-back victories in their opening 2 matches.
