VATSAL: The Shivamogga Strikers get their first win for the competition as they beat the Mysore Warriors by 13 runs.
The Strikers having put in to bat first started off well as the openers raced to 56 in 5 overs when they lost their 1st one in the form of R Kadam for 18 and Sagar was dismissed in the same over for a 1. Sharath batted well with KV Siddharth and brought up his half-century and departed soon after for 53. Siddharth(36 off 30), S Hoover(16 off 13) and Avinash D (25 off 17 balls) gave in handy contributions to take them to 174 for 8 in their 20.
The Strikers having put in to bat first started off well as the openers raced to 56 in 5 overs when they lost their 1st one in the form of R Kadam for 18 and Sagar was dismissed in the same over for a 1. The Mysore Warriors did not start well but picked up wickets at regular intervals thereafter. S Hegde was the pick of the bowlers with 2-19 off his 4 overs and was well supported by V Patil (3-39 of 4), S Gopal (1-30 of 4), and A Goyal who picked 2-38 in his spell to keep the Strikers to 174.
Chasing 175, The Mysore Warriors started off poorly as they lost their skipper K Nair for a golden duck. N Ullal (13 off 11) and Chiranjeevi for a duck were gone soon after. S Gopal steadied things for a while but departed for 7. S Hedge(13 off 14) and Shivraj with 19 off 12 gave decent contributions in the middle. P Deshpande played a valiant knock of 64 off 47 balls. L Appanna ended with 27* off 14 balls as he hit some lusty blows at the end to get the Warriors to 161 for 8 in their 20 overs and lost the game by 13 runs.
The Shivamogga Strikers' bowling was good throughout as they picked wickets at regular intervals and did not allow any partnerships for the Warriors. U Aiyappa picked up a big wicket of Nair and ended with 2-35 in his spell. Spinners Gowtham and Cariappa ended with 2-22 and 1-24 in their respective spells. Darshan MB was expensive but got 2-44 in his 4 overs.
