Player Bio

BR Sharath's cricketing career, while still in its nascent stages, offers a glimpse of a promising wicketkeeper-batsman who plays for Karnataka.

With an average hovering around the mid-20s across formats, he has not quite established himself as a prolific run-scorer. However, glimpses of talent are evident. His highest score of 103 in First-class cricket and 90 in List-A cricket showcase his potential for handy contributions lower down the order.

He rose through the ranks, bursting onto the scene as a product of Karnataka Premier League, and slowly moved up the ladder, becoming a permanent in the Karnataka domestic side. He received the best batter award by KSCA in 2016.

On his Ranji debut against Vidarbha in 2018, he smashed a hundred, telling the world about his talent. He also went on to captain the India U-23 side from there on.

While he initially found no bidders in the IPL 2024 auction, an injury to Robin Minz opened up the doors for him as he joined Gujarat Titans as the replacement player.

With Wriddhiman Saha struggling for runs, the Titans handed Sharath his IPL debut on April 7, 2024, for the match versus Lucknow Super Giants.

The Indian cricketing scene is highly competitive, especially for wicket-keepers. Sharath will need to excel in domestic tournaments and impress selectors with his overall performance to earn a call-up to higher levels. Performing consistently across formats and showcasing his abilities under pressure will be key factors in determining his future trajectory.
