That's it for this game and the double-header of the Women's Big Bash League 2022. We will be back tomorrow with more fixtures happening across the globe. For now, this is me Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentator Saurabh Saket, and scorer/analyst Manish Bishnoi. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodbye and CHEERS!
Player of the Match: Lizelle Lee (Hobart Hurricanes Women)
This has been a professional performance from the Hobart Hurricanes Women as they have outplayed the Sydney Thunder Women by 49 runs as they complete the double over the Thunder Women. In all three departments of the game, the Hurricanes were better and it was only the toss that the Thunder won today.

Chasing a competitive 145 for the win on a slow track, the Thunder innings never got going as they completely lost the plot from the start. Phoebe Litchfield showed resistance for her 28 off 21 balls as she top-scored for Sydney Thunder Women today. Rachel Haynes got 16 off 22 balls while Olivia Porter remained unbeaten on 17 off 16 balls. None of the other batters could get to double figures as Sydney Thunder sadly folded up for 95 in 18.1 overs.

An excellent bowling performance from the Hobart Hurricanes led by Hayley Jensen as she had figures of 2/13 in 4 overs. Heather Graham and Maisy Gibson had a couple of wickets to their name as well. A wicket apiece for Molly Strano and Nicola Carey. There were two run-outs as well as the Hurricanes were excellent on the field unlike their opponents for the evening. The Hurricanes gave away only 7 extras which were a lot lesser than what the Thunder gave with the ball.

Earlier in the game, Hobart Hurricanes put into bat had a decent beginning as they went about setting a total in a professional manner. Ellyse Villani struggled for her 14 off 20 balls. Lizelle Lee was the best batter on view with her 41 runs off 29 balls as she top-scored for the Hurricanes. Mignon du Preez got to 10 off 11 balls. Ruth Johnston scored 27 off 26 balls. Heather Graham scored 15 off 19 balls before Nicola Carey's 10* off 6 balls propelled the score to 144/7 in 20 overs. There were 18 extras given by the Thunder bowlers which included 11 byes and 4 wides apart from the 3 leg byes. Loads of dropped catches and missed stumpings as well.

Sammy Jo Johnson was the pick of the bowlers with 3/34 in 4 overs. A wicket apiece for Samatha Bates, and Lauren Smith. There were two run-outs in this innings as well. Tahuhu went wicketless despite being economical on the day. Thunder has a lot of work to do in all the departments if they are to claw their way back into the competition.

So, a win for the Hurricanes over Thunder by 49 runs as they move upwards in the points table while Thunder remains winless.
