The first semi-final of Royal London One-Day Cup 2022 was held between Lancashire and Sussex. This was a home game for Sussex Sharks and this was held at County Cricket Ground, Hove.
After winning the toss Lancashire decided to bat first, But in the first 15 overs their decision of batting first went against them they managed to score 67 runs and they lost 5 wickets, they almost lost this game there, But Dane Vilas 121(99) and George Lavelle 50(58) restructured their innings and they both added 132 runs for 6th wicket which set them in the driver seat, Dane Vilas showed his experience and he attacked Sussex bowlers and in the end, with the help of the tail-enders, the Lancashire managed to add 319 runs on the board. Danny Lamb, made 57 of 48 deliveries in the end and He made sure his team crosses the 300 mark.
For Sussex Fynn, Hudson-Prentice took 3 wickets and He was well supported by Aristides Karvelas, Bradley James Currie, and Henry Crocombe each took 1 wicket. The Sussex fielding efforts were exceptional they almost saved 20 runs on the field.
Chasing a target off 320 runs the Sussex started off in a style, Tom Alsop 25(27), and Alastair Orr 71(65)both gave a solid start with 58 run partnership. Later Orr was well supported by Tom Haines 49(59) these two added 68 runs for 2nd wicket, Once Orr departed the Sharks looked bit off the track and they lost captain Pujara for just 10 runs and Prentice for 10 runs. They lost 4 wickets in 20-35 overs span just for 60 runs. Tom Clark 31(39) and Delray Rawlins 23(14) tried to bring the chase back on track, Once these two wickets fell the others followed them to Pavilion, In the end
For Lancashire Liam Hurt and Danny Lamb picked 3 wickets, George Balderson took 2 wickets, Tom Bailey and Will Williams both took 1 wicket each for his team, The change in the bowling from Keaton Jennings worked for them, He shuffled all his bowlers and which resulted them with a regular wicket.
Till 21st over the Sussex looked on top of Lancashire but after that, all the math went wrong for Sussex, They lost quick wickets and then they also struggled to keep up with the run rate after that which put them in extra pressure on the fresh batter and all of them rushed and paid their wickets.
