Milestone
Right then. We have our first finalists of the 12th Big Bash League. A comfortable victory for Perth Scorchers and they will play their 8th Bash final on 4th February. For the Sixers, they still have another chance in the competition as they face will face the winner of the Knockout. For now, this is Megh Mandaliya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ayan Chatterjee, and scorer/analyst Manish Bishnoi. Join us tomorrow as Heat take on the Renegades in the Knockout. See you there!
Ashton Turner (Player of the match): "Really satisfying to get over the line. We know the wicket can be a little tricky at the start. Abbott and Ben swung around the bowl nicely in the initial stages. But we tried not to get into a shell and played more positive cricket. We need to be prepared for every scenario. The preparation has been really fluid. We have been brilliant at our home venue and we have the confidence to get over the line. We know the conditions really well and we as a team want to learn, improve and rectify our mistakes. Guys like Inglis and Bancroft have been scoring really well for us and Hobson and I didn't have much time with the bat this season."
Ashton Turner is the player of the match.
4:45 PM IST: Cameron Bancroft finishes things off in style as he gets to his fifty and hits the winning runs as the Perth Scorchers win this game by 7 wickets with 9 balls left. They are through to their 8th BBL final. All is not lost for the Sixers as they will get a second chance in the Challenger. What a performance from Ashton Turner and Cameron Bancroft as they aced the chase here.

Chasing a gettable target of 152 for the win, the Perth Scorchers lost early wickets as they were reduced to 22/3 after the first 4 overs. But what followed was a batting masterclass from skipper Ashton Turner as he led from the front with a magnificent inning. He was unbeaten on 84* off 47 balls. He was ably supported by Cameron Bancroft who opened the innings and dropped anchor. He was the supporting act in this 132-run stand for the fourth wicket. Bancroft got to his fifty and hit the winning runs as he was unbeaten on 53* off 45 balls. They got to the target in 18.3 overs with 4 extras given by the fielding side. A comprehensive win for the Scorchers at the end of the night.

All three wickets fell to Sean Abbott as he had brilliant figures of 3/25 in 4 overs. The rest of the bowlers remained wicketless and they were sloppy on the field dropping crucial catches at important moments of the game. In hindsight, they deserved to lose this game.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Sydney Sixers lost Josh Philippe and Kurtis Patterson early. Steve Smith managed 18 runs today as the Sixers were in a spot of bother at 42/3 at one stage. But then the skipper Moises Henriques and Jordan Silk steadied the ship for the Sixers and shared an 88-run stand for the fourth wicket. Henriques fell for 58 off 43 balls. Jordan Silk was unbeaten on 47* off 34 balls as he lost partners at the other end post-Henriques’ dismissal. Sean Abbott scored 10 off 6 balls as they ended with 151/8 after 20 overs. 8 extras were given by the fielding side.

Jason Behrendorff was the pick of the bowlers for the Perth Scorchers. He had figures of 2/17 in 4 overs. David Payne picked up 3 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs. Aaron Hardie and Andrew Tye got a wicket each. Lance Morris went wicketless but kept it tight. All in all, a good effort with the ball from the home side. They were also sloppy in the field but largely held it together.

So, a win for the Perth Scorchers by 7 wickets with 9 balls left to qualify for the finals. They will host the final on February 4th while the Sixers will get a second chance as they will play the Challenger and host it at the SCG on February 2nd.

18.3 B Dwarshuis to C Bancroft
4 THAT'S IT! The Scorchers have done it. They are through to the Finals and they become the first team to do so this season. The home crowd is enlivened and the Scorchers enter the finals for the 8th time in the BBL history. Fuller length delivery angling into the middle, Bancroft opens up his stumps and punches that firmly down the ground. The mid-on was chasing that but fails to stop that as the ball raced away to the ropes. 50 also comes up for Bancroft.
18.2 B Dwarshuis to C Bancroft
0 Short of a length delivery on the top of the middle, Bancroft goes for a pull but misses it to the keeper. Umpire signals as one bouncer for the over.
18.1 B Dwarshuis to C Bancroft
0 Back of a length delivery angling into the right-hander, Bancroft opens up his stumps and cuts that to sweeper cover for a dot.

4 FOUR! Boundaries are just flowing at the moment. Tossed up on the middle, Turner gets down on one knee and reverse sweeps that past the backward point as the ball races away to the fence.
17.2 I Naveed to C Bancroft
1 Length and outside off, Bancroft punches that to sweeper cover for a single.
17.1 I Naveed to C Bancroft
