Usman Khawaja has been awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant 94 off 55 balls.
4:56 PM IST: So, rain has had the final and ultimate say as it came to disrupt play after 6.5 overs of the chase. As a result, Brisbane Heat wins the game by 8 runs under the DLS method. They move on to play the knockout against the Melbourne Renegades on Sunday at the Marvel Stadium. The Thunder bow out as the weather robbed them of a chance of having a crack at this chase which was huge.

Brisbane Heat inserted to bat first lost Josh Brown early to leave the Heat in a spot of bother. Then it was the skipper Usman Khawaja show as he amassed a brilliant 94 off 55 balls. He shared a magnificent 128-run stand for the second wicket with Marnus Labuschagne. Marnus played a supporting role before stepping it up in the final overs. He scored 73 off 48 balls. Matthew Renshaw came and scored a brilliant cameo of 24 off 8 balls. 7 extras were given by the fielding side as Brisbane Heat ended with 203/5 in 20 overs.

Chris Green was the pick of the bowlers for the Sydney Thunder. The skipper led from the front as he picked up a couple of wickets and gave away 29 runs in 4 overs. A wicket apiece for Daniel Sams and Ben Cutting. The bowlers were taken to the cleaners with Usman Qadir going for 50 in his 4 overs. All in all, a tough day at the office for the Thunder bowlers.

Chasing a mammoth 204 for the win, Sydney Thunder lost Matthew Gilkes cheaply for 3 off 8 balls. David Warner was looking dangerous as he was unbeaten on 36* off 20 balls. He had Jason Sangha for company who was unbeaten on 9* off 13 balls. Thunder were 52/1 after 6.5 overs when rain intervened and got heavy. It never relented for the play to resume. 4 extras were given by the fielding side inside 7 overs.

5 bowlers were used by the Heat and James Bazley got the only wicket to fall in the innings. They kept things under check and after the performance of their batters, one would have to say they deserve to go to the next stage.

So, Brisbane Heat wins by 8 runs under the DLS method to advance through to the knockout on Sunday against the Melbourne Renegades.

4:41 PM IST | OH-No..!! The conditions out there don't look promising. The rain 🌧️ came back once again and it was really pouring down. Looks like the delay might be stretched. Stay tuned for further updates.
