Chasing 155 on this surface was going to be a tricky one. The Strikers lost their skipper Travis Head early in the innings. Matthew Short along with Chris Lynn started building a partnership for the second wicket. Both played some brilliant strokes and kept finding the boundaries regularly. Matthew Kuhnemann broke the 37-run stand when he dismissed in-form Chris Lynn on 22. In no time, Heat got another breakthrough in the form of Alex Carey (2 off 3).
Strikers were down at 42-3 and then the duo of Matthew Short and Adam Hose gave some hope to the Adelaide-based franchise. The duo glued a partnership of 40 runs together with Short (39 runs off 30 balls) taking on the bowlers after playing around the ground for singles and doubles for a while. James Bazley dismissed both the Strikers’ set-batters and it helped the Heat pull back things.
