Well that's all for today folks! This is Anirudh Modi, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide and our reliable scorer/analyst Paras Yadav! It was a pleasure to bring you this game LIVE! Stay Tuned to find out what happens next in the newest season of the Big Bash League! See you on the next one!
Nic Maddinson (Player of the Match): "Very proud of the innings. I started slow but accelerated in the end. I tried to hit the ball hard at the start but it didn't work out. Not much power hitting. I like to play good shots in the gaps and the shorter boundary at one end helps. A 100 would have been nice with two more overs to go but happy to get across the line."
Nic Maddinson is named the Player of the Match.
MELBOURNE RENEGADES KICK OFF THEIR SEASON IN STYLE WITH A BRILLIANT VICTORY! The defeat Brisbane Heat by 22 runs to take home their first points of the season! Brisbane Heat will be disappointed with the outcome today.

The Heat won the toss and elected to bowl first. Melbourne Renegades led by their skipper Nic Maddinson got off to a flier with 50 runs in the powerplay, and Maddinson eventually went onto a play a special knock of 87 runs from 49 balls! He was aptly supported by Sam Harper at the top and Andre Russell at the back end to help their team past the 165 run-mark in their 20 overs!

Kuhnemann and Bazley were the stars with the ball as the former picked up 3/32 from his 4 overs while Bazley bowled a brilliant spell of 2/19 from his 4 overs.

With a target set of 167 runs from 20 overs, the Brisbane Heat got off to a poor start, losing 2 wickets in the powerplay courtesy of Akeal Hossein's spin magic. By the end of the 10th over, the required run rate was up at 11 per over with the scoreboard reading 57/2.

Power Surge was immediately taken and for a while Pierson gave them hope as he top scored with 43 runs from 30 balls. However, despite their best efforts the Brisbane Heat could never recover from the early loss and ultimately fell short by 22 runs.

Melbourne Renegades will be delighted to have started their season on a positive note after the debacle last season. Brisbane Heat will go back to the drawing board to figure out the weaknesses. A long season ahead for both the teams.

OH NO! BACK TO BACK OPPORTUNITIES MISSED! This time at covers, the skipper just juggles it and drops it!
