That’s it from Game 25 of the CPL between Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Jamaica Tallawahs. This is Vatsal signing off alongside Deepak and our scorer/analyst Paras. Do join us for more exciting fixtures across the globe. Until then, take care and goodbye from us.

Rovman Powell ( Losing Captain):  "It's a bit disappointing, our plans with the bowling unit didn't work out (in the last 3 overs), but credit to Odean Smith and Keemo Paul. We kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The innings by Brandon King was one of the best I've ever seen in the history of CPL. We definitely need to improve in a few areas, but no need to panic, we have our fate in our own hands, a win in the next game and we should be through"
Shimron Hetmyer (Winning Captain): "I was trying to be calm to make sure the guys are calm as well. Today was his (O Smith) day, he smashed with the bat and I thought he could be the best guy to finish with the ball as well. I was thinking let's just get to 140-150 and we'll fight. As we saw today, it was fantastic from him (Odean Smith). He played one of the most special innings. The points are always good. We are trying to build some momentum. The crowd really helps up, good to have the home advantage."
Odean Smith(Player of the match): " We didn't bat according to our plan in the beginning as we lost wickets in clusters but I know what I had to do. The wicket was good and I just kept my base and hit the ball. We were aiming to score 160 runs but hopefully, we got 178 runs, and in the end, it came down really close and we won by 12 runs. Hopefully, the support of the crowd will help us win the final three games. That century was excellent (from Brandon King). The wicket was excellent."
Vatsal: The Guyana Amazon Warriors have beaten the Jamaica Tallawahs by 12 runs in a close encounter at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

Chasing 179 for victory, Tallawahs got off to a poor start losing K Lewis for 13. McKenzie coming in at 3 played some good shots but was run out for 15. The middle order crumbled and did not contribute much. Powell, Allen, Wasim, Reifer, and Nabi all went out cheaply. The tailenders did not contribute much either. Brandon King played a lone hand and scored 104 off 66 balls and kept his team in the chase till the end. The Tallawahs eventually got bundled out for 166 in 19.5 overs.

The Warriors' bowling was brilliant and was led by Tahir who got 2 for 17 in his 4 overs.
G Motie and O Smith got 2 wickets as well and Shakib on his 1st game this season rounded off with 1 for 30 in his spell. 3 run-outs in the innings also did not help the side.

Earlier in the day, the Warriors put into bat 1st scored 178 runs while losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Up until the game's 17th over, the Tallawahs bowlers put on a stellar performance, but the Warriors responded with a shaky inning from Shai Hope, and in the end, we saw the strength of Odean Smith and Keemo Paul. The Warriors have made a strong comeback after early difficulties, scoring 74 runs in the last 3 overs.

The Tallawahs didn’t get the start they wanted as they lost 3 wickets in under 5 overs and were struggling with 35 runs on the board in 4.2 overs. Debutants Shakib Al Hasan and Rahmanullah Gurbaz started their CPL journey on a very bad note as both of them went for a golden duck on their CPL debut.

Shai Hope continued to bat brilliantly in the center of the field, reaching his second CPL fifty on this occasion before departing with a score of 60 runs off of 45 balls. The Warriors were struggling with 98 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 15.3 overs as they continued to lose wickets at a regular rate.

In the end, Odean Smith and Keemo Paul started destroying every ball out of the park and were able to add 74 runs in the last 3 overs. Odean Smith departed, scoring 42 runs off 16 balls, and Keemo Paul remained unbeaten till the end, scoring 24 runs off 12 balls.

On the other hand, Mohammad Nabi picked up 3 wickets giving away 12 runs in 2 overs. Chris Green picked up a couple of wickets and Imad Wasim, Rovman Powell, and Fabian Allen shared one wicket each.

A close win for Guyana Amazon Warriors which keeps them in the hunt for the play-offs race.
