That's it from the inaugural game of the tenth edition of CPL 2022. Do join us for other cricketing action across the globe. For now, this is me Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentator Nikhil Kalla, and scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Stay safe, happy, and cool, and have a good day everyone!
Rovman Powell, Jamaica Tallawahs Skipper: "It depends on the surface and it's good that we have so much power in our batting. The guys bowled well and King was exceptional, he was very fluent. All in all, the guys played some good cricket today, When they have so many left-handers we try not to risk left-arm spin. That's why Fabian Allen didn't bowl today. It's all about match-ups and maybe tomorrow he will get a chance to bowl if we have favorable match-ups to bowl at. Good to get the win, but it's just the start of the tournament, it's a long league and so consistency will be the key, which we weren't in the last few seasons. I hope, we carry this form forward. "
Dwayne Bravo, St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots Skipper: "We can't afford to give three chances, tough luck, not the ideal start but quick turn around for us and we know what went wrong for us today - dropping those three catches. Happy with how young Carmichael played his first game, really good to see how he carried himself with the ball and on the field. We have to improve our out cricket and hope to bounce back tomorrow night."
Brandon King ( MVP of the match ): " I am extremely happy as this is my first game and to be the man of the match I am very happy. I just wanted to keep myself calm and it worked well for me. Yeah, there was a point when I thought I shall put my foot on the accelerator and from there on I never looked back."
A comprehensive win for the Jamaica Tallawahs as they outplayed the defending champions St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in all facets of the game to win the contest by 47 runs. The Patriots were never in the chase and never looked like even getting close to the target.

Chasing a daunting target of 184 for the win, they struggled against a disciplined bowling effort as Evin Lewis went early in the chase. Andre Fletcher struggled with his 31 off 34 balls. Sherfane Rutherford tried his best with 33 off 22 balls. Brevis and Bravo got into double figures. But they lacked conviction. Jaggesar also managed to get to double figures. But they were always behind the eight ball.

All the Jamaica Tallawahs bowlers bowled well and shared the workload. Mohammed Amir picked up a wicket for 23 runs in his 4 overs. Chris Green was miserly as ever with his 4 overs for 21 runs. A couple of wickets for Imad Wasim, and Miguel Pretorius with Pretorius being a tad expensive. The pick of the bowlers was Nicholson Gordon who picked up 3 wickets for 32 runs and was on a hat-trick at one stage. 10 extras were given by the Tallawahs including 5 wides as well. Amir bowled a lot of wides in one of his overs. The fielding for them was excellent with Fabian Allen being a livewire in the field.

Earlier in the game, the Tallawahs got off to a sedate start in the first 3 overs. But then they turned it on as the opening pair of Brandon King and Kennar Lewis put on 116 for the first wicket. Lewis struggled for timing as he scored 48 off 46 balls. But it was the Brandon King show as his 89 off 57 balls with 8 fours and six sixes to his name powered them to the total of 183-2. Special mention to Rovman Powell’s 30 off 15 balls at the end alongside King’s innings that gave them the impetus in the end. Powell also had 3 sixes to his name.

Duan Jansen was impressive despite being wicketless as he went for 18 runs in 4 overs which included a maiden and 16 dot balls as well. Carmichael was good on his debut picking up a wicket for 22 runs in 3 overs. Bravo picked up the other wicket to fall but he like the other bowlers went for runs. There were 13 extras which included 12 wides. The skipper himself bowled 8 wides with the ball. They were shoddy on the field as they dropped five catches compared to their opponents who picked up all the catches that came their way.

So, a win for the Tallawahs here to open CPL 2022. Stick around for the post-match presentation that comes your way soon.
