Player Bio

Migael Pretorius was an already renowned name in South African cricket when he scalped a marvellous 7 for 38 as the Knights were shot out for 116 on a spicy Durban deck. After that, the electrifying medium-pacer became an overnight sensation in cricketing circles and the national selections could not ignore such a performance.

Born in Vereeniging, a 21-year old Pretorius made his first-class debut playing for Northerns against Eastern Province in the Sunfoil Three-Day Cup at Centurion in 2016. A lanky-looking pacer stamped his authority from the word go as he took six wickets on debut. He ended the season as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament, with 42 wickets out of 10 FC games.

The Vereeniging-born's performance with both ball and bat went north as Pretorius became one of the integral players for Northerns, and his 5 for 41 against Boland in 2018, 81* against Lions and 7 for 38 against Knights in the 2020 season were instances of his calibre.

After his seven-for, the national selectors awarded the budding pacer and named him in a revamped Test squad against Sri Lanka in 2020. In March 2021, Pretorius was named in South Africa's T20I squad for their series against Pakistan. Although the electrifying pacer is yet to earn his maiden national cap.

For the 2021 Caribbean Premier League, Pretorius has been named in the Jamaica Tallawahs squad where the Protea will spend some quality time with the likes of Andre Russell, Fidel Edwards and many other talented cricketers from across the globe.
