Commentary

So this is a wrap up for the 19th match of TNPL 2022 between Nellai Royal Kings and Ruby Trichy Warriors where Nellai team beat their opposition by 66 runs and regained their table top position. This is me Saptak Sanyal, signing off along with my co-commentator Akshay Bhide and Scorer/analyst Raju. Good night.

We didn’t relax while bowling as we were put under pressure by Murali Vijay. He played a brilliant knock. I thought 150 was a good total on this wicket but happy that we got 237."

Sanjay Yadav | Player of the Match: "I'm practicing a lot of range hitting at the moment. Also, I'm trying to rotate strike along with hitting sixes. We tried to build a partnership and played big shots in the end. It was a good gesture from Aparajith to give me the strike in the last over and happy that I could get the century."

Rahil Shah | Ruby Trichy Warriors Skipper: “We didn’t bowl well. Our execution was way off the mark. 230 was a daunting task and Murali Vijay was brilliant but the others should have contributed to stay in the run chase. I could have bowled well but other things were going in my mind. The plan was to bowl medium pacers against Sanjay Yadav. We bowled well till the 12^th over but lost our way. Two games left and we will look to get wins in both games.”

Ruby Trichy Warriors have struck 12 boundaries and 13 sixes and among these boundaries 7 boundaries and 12 sixes came from Murali Vijay's willow and that says about the speciality of the innings. Vijay was the only batter who looked promising from the start and throughout. Although he got dropped twice he grabbed the chance by hitting the bowlers everywhere.
This 121 is the highest ever score in any game by any individual in TNPL history. When the runs were leaking, NRK brough two spinners from the ends and restricted the run. Even after that RTW were 72-2 after first six but after that they declined steadily as they scored just 98 from last 14 overs. An injured Murali Vijay did almost 80% run for his team while the next highest was 13.
With that Nellai Royal Kings defeated Warriors by 66 runs and stayed on top while the Ruby Trichy Warriors are knocked out of the tournament and are at second last position now.
