Nobody expected such a result of the first test match and that too within 3 days. It just tells you how good the West Indies were. Bangladesh haven't been at their best in the last few test matches and will look to improve as the series progresses.  West Indies will take a lot of positives from this test and will go to the second test with high momentum. Do join us for the second test, which starts on 24th June and it should be an exciting one! That's it from our end today. Until then, this is Shubham Agarwal signing off along with my co-commentator, Akshaya Krishna. Stay safe and stay healthy!
Kraigg Brathwaite: Well, I thought Roach played well. We would've liked a little more runs in the first innings but overall it's alright. Kemar Roach is a great leader on and off the field and the bowlers has he has set the tone on the first day. For me, Kemar is everything and the way he batted against when his finger was sour. His attitude is good and he always brings a good vibe. We are really looking for a St. Lucia challenge and kudos to Bangladesh for bowling well throughout. Yeah very pleasing to see Campbell's innings. He has got a lot of abilities and is glad to see his half-century. Reifer got a 100 against England, so you will see him improve.
Shakib Al Hasan | Bangladesh captain: (The toss) Played a significant part, but we can't complain. If we could have applied ourselves better, it would have been ideal. The wicket was pretty good after that. That one session killed the game for us. Happy with the way the bowlers performed. (Batting failures) Not acceptable, we have been doing that quite regularly in the Tests. Batsmen need to find ways to score runs. That's a simple equation that we need to work on. (On the partnership with Nurul) A lot to be gained from that, Nurul was under pressure, and the way he applied himself showed a lot of character. Some of the other batters can take the same approach and play good cricket in the next game. All our bowlers bowled their hearts out. Batting let us down and hopefully, we come back well in the next game. I was positive in my batting, kept it simple and I hope to continue my good form for the team in the coming matches.
Kemar Roach, Player of the Match: The kids rang me up last night to say congratulations. It was a good feeling to help the fans and the team. (On leveling with Michael Holding) It's good. It's a great feeling to be up there with the modern-day greats. I'm a big person on stats, so to be up there with the legends of the game puts me up there as well. I'll keep working for the 300 mark. (On plans in the second innings) Just being patient. The pitch played much better and the ball got much softer. We knew it was a new ball pitch. We knew we had to start with the new ball and take it from there. It's a pleasing performance. Definitely top five. We have to keep working hard for ourselves and for our team.``
Starting the day with 49/3 on board and requiring just 35 runs, it was just a mere formality for West Indies to come and finish off this test match. They did lose 3 quick wickets and looked in a bit of trouble at 9/3 but Campbell and Blackwood showed some patience and made sure they played out and take their team over the finishing line! Campbell(58 off 67) was aggressive throughout the innings and led the batting line-up in the fourth innings, also bringing up his 3rd test fifty in style with a cheeky sweep to the fine leg boundary. Jermaine Blackwood(26 off 53) supported him very well from the other end and played some good-looking shots without taking any risks. Khaled Ahmed was the lone warrior from Bangladesh, took all the three wickets and gave some hope to his team, and also sent a wave of terror in the West Indies camp. Bangladesh fought extremely well after getting all out for just 103 in the first innings but they will look to rectify all their mistakes, especially their batsmen who tend to throw their wickets away after a good start, and will look to come back strong for the second test! The presentations are coming up. Until then, stay tuned!
