That brings us to the end of the 9th game of the competition. We will have a virtual quarter-final between India and Barbados from 10:30 PM IST. Do join us at 10 for that knockout clash. Till then, it's ta-ta from me (Ary Sekhar Chakraborty), my fellow commentator Hitesh Peruddwar along with our scorer Raju Khariya.

Arya- Australian skipper Meg Lanning won the toss and opted to bat. Given the history between the two teams, it was expected that Australia would get off to a flying start in the powerplay but the Pakistan opening bowlers Diana Baig and Fatima Sana had other ideas. It was an exceptional piece of bowling by the duo which made sure that Pakistan dominated the powerplay with the ball and had Australia under a bit of trouble.

They lost two important wickets in the form of Allysa Healy and Meg Lanning but a turnaround was around the corner and the next two batters carried on for the rest of the innings, such was the dominance from Tahila McGrath and Beth Money.

While Fatima Sana bagged the wicket of Healy with a beautiful inswinger which came back in and disturbed the timbers, Meg Lanning was castled by arguably the best delivery of the match by Sadia Iqbal. The ball came in and then straightened enough to beat the outside edge of Lanning and clattered onto the stumps. However it was a different ball game altogether from there on as Australia kept the momentum going and struck some magnificent strokes.

Both McGrath and Mooney took the centre stage as they took Australia out of the doldrums. It was a magnificent partnership of 141 and it was decorated with shots of the highest order. Tahila McGrath made a lot of movements in the crease and struck some incredible blows. Mooney wasn't far away either and struck 8 four.  and six during her knock of 70. Meanwhile, McGrath remained unbeaten on 78 which included 10 fours and a six.

Pakistan was never in the run chase right from the word go. They lost their opener, Muneeba Ali, in the first over itself and it was always going to be an uphill task for them from there on. Iram Javed came out with some intent but couldn't quite get a big score. Omaima Sohail struck some great shots to begin with and was given good support by Bisma Maroof as the duo tried to resurrect the run-chase.

However Sohail's wicket again opened the floodgates for Australia and Pakistan had no answer. Wickets kept tumbling on regular intervals and the required rate also kept climbing at an alarming rate. Fatima Sana struck some lusty blows towards the end and remained unbeaten on 35 of 26b deliveries which included a couple of sixes which were struck with disdain. Eventually Pakistan could only muster 116 in their 20 overs, handing Australia a 44 runs victory.

Arya- A comfortable victory for Australia by 44 runs as they finish the preliminary stage of the Commonwealth Games as group champions. Australia did stutter top of the order with the bat but it was the briefest of stutters as Tahila McGrath and Beth Mooney ensured that they didn't lose any more wicket on their way to a more than competitive score of 160/2 at the end of their allotted 20 overs. It was always going to be an uphill task for Australia and eventually, they returned triumphant by 44 runs.

19.6 M Schutt to A Anwer
1 Anwer goes for the reverse sweep and gets a single down the off side. Hits her on the pads and a single to round the match off.
19.6 M Schutt to A Anwer
WD It could have been the last ball of the match, but it's wide. Length delivery drifting down the leg side and umpire signals it as wide.
19.5 M Schutt to F Sana
1 Yorker on the off-stump and Sana digs this out towards the off side for a single.
19.4 M Schutt to F Sana
6 Absolutely slapped over covers. Incredible hit from Fatima Sana, should could get a promotion in the batting order. Was a short of a length delivery outside off from Schutt, Sana makes some room and disdainfully deposits that well over the cove-point boundary.
19.3 M Schutt to F Sana
0 A yorker length delivery just a tad outside off. Sana moves across in the stumps and then comes back to normal postion and then digs this out back to the bowler.
19.3 M Schutt to F Sana
WD Down the leg side and Megan Schutt has to reload that.
19.2 M Schutt to A Anwer
1 Fuller on the leg stump and that has been clipped away nicely, a bit uppishly down towards deep backward square leg and completes a single.
19.1 M Schutt to F Sana
1 That has been driven towards the deep cover-point area for a single.

18.6 J Jonassen to D Baig
W Change of angle brings a wicket. Will it be reviewed? No Baig is heading back towards the pavilion. It could have pitched just outside leg but given the situation of the game, they thought it wasn't worth reviewing. Jonassen slowing it up on this occasion and Baig couldn't quite get the sweep again.
18.6 J Jonassen to D Baig
2wd Another wide this time even keeper misses to collect it, Length delivery drifting down the leg side, Keeper misses to collect it and the ball races away towards the fine leg region and the batters scamper for a couple of runs.
18.6 J Jonassen to D Baig
WD Down the leg side and it has been called a wide.
