That brings us to the end of our coverage for today. Till the next time, it's good-night and good bye from me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty), my fellow commentator Akshaya Krishna Polya along with our scorer/statistician Paras Yadav
Ravichandran Ashwin | Player of the Match: "Honestly it is quite a special day for us. It is important to get two bites in the cherry. Good finish to the round game. So I was well before the season the communication was pretty clear. There were areas where I needed to work on I am not that powerful player. I opened in a lot of practice games. Finishing is a different role. Glad it came off today. I will settle for 1/28. I am someone who loves taking wickets but I cannot chase wickets all the time. I know my role. Some of the time the batters don't take many risks. I have worked a lot on my batting. I understand the ebs and flows of the game. Gladly a lot of credit should go to them (the trainers) and they have given me encouragement. Whoever picks me I always thought of playing my A game. I thought that wherever I go, the franchise should qualify for the playoffs."
Sanju Samson | Rajasthan Royals Captain: "It feels really great. Definitely, the way we have played in the league games. almost everyone has stood up to win games. It was very important to understand that they are some quality batsmen. It was very difficult to stop Moeen Ali but we believed that we could make a comeback but I didn't expect to comeback the way they did. The way I wanted to bring McCoy to the bowling attack. I wanted to bring him after the powerplay ended as he is more confident. That was really working. He has great changeups and he has matured as a cricketer, It is a funny game and it can change any time. They had some quality bowlers bowling in the middle. I think Ash batted brilliantly. Before the season started, the amount of hours he spent in the nets, we expected him to come big in this tournament."
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony with Simon Doull.
AkshayaEarlier, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and opted to bat first. CSK lost Ruturaj Gaikwad very early in the piece. Gaikwad (2 off 6) was caught behind in the very first over to his match-up Trent Boult who picked the former for the third time in the IPL.

But the number three batter Moeen Ali had other ideas. On a sticky looking surface he came out all guns blazing. He even struck a six and five consecutive boundaries off Trent Boult to end the powerplay at 75/1.

Devon Conway was a spectator of this onslaught from Moeen. The southpaw from England completed his swashbuckling fifty in just 19 deliveries. Conway (16 off 14), who was playing a supporting role for his partner was trapped in front of the stumps by a quicker and a fuller delivery from Ravichandran Ashwin. The off-spinner broke the 83-run stand between the two batters and the scoring rate gradually slowed down.

Narayan Jagadeesan (1 off 4) and Ambati Rayudu (3 off 6) failed to make impressions with the bat, leaving CSK on a spot of bother at 95/4.

MS Dhoni and Moeen Ali did add 51 for the fifth wicket but this wasn’t a fluent partnership. Dhoni did smoke a huge six during his innings but struggled to get going. He was taken care of by a loopy wide delivery from Yuzvendra Chahal. Dhoni scored 26 off 28 deliveries.

Moeen Ali slowed down after the powerplay as the pitch showed its colours. And he eventually holed out to long-off in the last over. He scored 93 off 57 balls, including 13 boundaries and three monstrous six.

Mitchell Santner (1* off 2) and Simarjeet Singh (3* off 3) at the end chipped in with a few scores as CSK finished on 150/6 in their allotted 20 overs.

Rajasthan Royals used five bowlers and except Prasidh Krishna everyone chipped in with wickets. Obed McCoy (2/20) and Yuzvendra Chahal (2/26) were the pick of them. Ravichandran Ashwin (1/28) was crucial in drowning the run rate of the batting side. Trent Boult was very expensive, thanks to Moeen Ali  who slammed 26 off his third over, finished his spell with a wicket.

Arya- The run-chase could have been a tricky one for the Rajasthan Royals had they lost early wickets. Yashashvi Jaiswal started off freely smashing boundaries at will and got RR off to a flying start in the opening over. Jos Buttler who was out of touch in the last few matches couldn’t quite get going as Simarjeet Sing nicked him off with a good away swinger a tad outside off. It was a great start as far as CSK was concerned but Jaiswal at the other end, looked in sublime touch and kept the scoreboard ticking with his exceptional strokeplay.

Sanju Samson struck some delightful strokes as he does on most occasions but yet again couldn’t carry on and finish off the job for his team. A 51 runs partnership ended when Mitchell Santner took a terrific return catch to send Samson back. Again an innings which promised but fizzled out way too early. That could have been a tricky situation had RR lost a few more wickets. Prasanth Solanki bagged his maiden IPL wicket when he dismissed Jaiswal with a dragged down delivery. He went for the pull only to be holed out at deep backward square leg.

Devdutt Padikkal’s dodgy knock of 3 of 9 deliveries came to an end when he castled by Moeen Ali. He put a lot of pressure on the other batters due to his lack of intent in the middle. It was Ravichandran Ashwin who was sent up the order to settle the nerves in the middle. Mr Utility didn’t disappoint as he played a stunning knock which took his side over the finishing line. Ashwin went onto smoke three big sixes during his incredible knock of 40 of 23 deliveries which took his side over the finishing line. He played some exceptional shots and the celebration after the win showed what it meant for Ashwin to help his team finish on the 2nd spot in the points table.

Obed McCoy: "Ahh!! I think it was a better bowling performances from him. Good lines and -lengths from me. Less wides too. Yeah, I think I bowled well. I would rate 7-8 out of 10. I worked alongside Malinga in the nets and he has induced a lot off confidence in me. This pitch was slowing up a tad. I bowled a couple of back of the hand slower delivery but they slipped due to seat. So I switched to off-cutters. It is a big tournament and a tougher one as well. We did enjoy but it was a hard work for everyone of us to make it to here. Ashwin, well he cannot do any wrong. It was fun watching him. The celebrations he did after winning it was something else."
MS Dhoni | Chennai Super Kings Captain: "I think what we need to do is our batters need to step up. When one of your batter is playing like he played then any of the other batters needed to support him. See we are a batter light I feel. The roles have been swapped here for a couple of batters. Yeah, we were a 15-runs short. But once you reach 150, then it is important for us to pick some early wickets and stop their openers from scoring runs quickly. See, next year we shouldn't start from the scratch. For that, giving youngsters opportunity this season was important. This is not an one year tournament. You need to be a strong player to perform for years. And to perform for around ten years it would be a great task and that is what expected from the youngsters."
Arya- A hard-fought victory for the Rajasthan Royals in the end. After a brilliant knock from opener Yashashvi Jaiswal, it was down to Ravichandran Ashwin who finished off the job with the bat, slamming an unbeaten 40 of 23 deliveries to see his side through. It was a great run-chase and in the end, a score of 150 was not enough for CSK as RR ended up winning by 5 wickets and with couple of deliveries to spare.
Akshaya: Rajasthan Royals won by 5 wickets and they finish in the top two. They will face Gujarat Titans in the first qualifier in Kolkata.
19.5 M Pathirana to R Parag
WD That's victory for the Rajasthan Royals with a virtue of a wide and they finish on 2nd spot which gives them two attempts to reach the final. Outside the tramline and that's the game.
Hang on! A dot ball! The bowler gets the yorker right here. 1 off 2 now!
19.4 M Pathirana to R Parag
0 Swing and a miss. A full yorker angling into the right-hander. He is sharp and deceptive and when he gets the yorker right, he is very difficult to get away. Just outside off and Parag couldn't quite make contact.
19.3 M Pathirana to R Ashwin
1 Scores are level. What a come head, takes a single by tapping the length delivery on off on the surface.
Akshaya: Ashwin almost makes sure that RR finishes in the top two! A spectacular innings from the stylish all-rounder here.
19.2 M Pathirana to R Ashwin
4 This has been a special knock from Ravichandran Ashwin. He has taken the Royals with two runs for a top-two finish. He is inflicting some wounds here against his former franchise. A full one a tad outside off. Backs away giving himself room and carves it away up and over down the vacant deep point region for a boundary. Pumps his chest in delight.
19.1 M Pathirana to R Parag
1lb Parag gets off strike first ball. A full toss on the pads and Parag couldn't quite get that away down the leg side. Slams onto his pads but that would have comfortably gone down the leg side. Goes down the off side and enough time for Parag to take a leg bye single.
Just seven needed from the last over. Who bowls it? Simarjeet Singh or Matheesa Pathirana!
