This is it from the live coverage of Lancashire vs Essex, as we conclude this game with the hosts winning it by 7 wickets and 26 balls to spare. That’s it for today from myself Nikhil Kalla alongside my co-commentator Vatsal and our scorer/analyst Yogesh. See you soon again tomorrow with more games to follow till then stay safe and stay tuned.

THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH IS Steven Croft.

NIKHIL: So, we are done here with the hosts winning the game with relative ease as they were asked to chase down just 162.

Essex put on 161 for 5 in their 20 overs where Rossington and Critchley started off the innings well before getting out in quick succession. Pepper and Lawrence then played well through the middle and added 39 for the 3rd wicket partnership. In the later stages of the first innings, it was Walter and Sams who posted 49 runs being unbeaten in just 31 balls to take Essex to a competitive total. Lancashire bowlers were good throughout with Wood being the star of the show with 2-28 in his 4 over. Lamb, Hartley, and Wells picked a wicket each too.

In reply to the target set by the visitors, the hosts started in a sensational manner scoring 61 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in the powerplay even after losing Jennings who was unlucky to get out on a diamond duck. Croft started with all guns blazing and scored a half-century at a blistering pace as his innings set the tone for the run-chase with 76 not-out. He was helped well with Salt as even he made a quick-fire 27 runs. Vilas came in and looked set from the moment he faced his first delivery and he also ended up with a good half-century to show before falling short to Harmer.

For the visitors, there wasn’t much to cheer about in the bowling department as Critchley took the wicket of Salt, Harmer got rid of Vilas, and Cook got rid of Jennings with a lucky runout in the game.

Chasing down 162 was never a big ask for a side like Lancashire which has a strong batting line-up. The target was chased well and early in the 16th over itself as the Lancashire team walks past Essex with ease in the 3rd Quarter-Final in Manchester.

15.4 S Harmer to T David
4 FOUR!!! THIS IS IT HERE FROM MANCHESTER AS LANCASHIRE HAS DEFEATED ESSEX WITH THE HELP OF THIS BOUNDARY. This was fuller in length and in the middle but David has just pushed at this one as he finds the gap to perfection and it runs for a boundary towards deep cover.
15.4 S Harmer to T David
WD Wide down the leg by Harmer.
15.3 S Harmer to T David
0 David has blocked this towards the bowler. This was off a good length in the middle and he has blocked this off the front foot.

15.2 S Harmer to D Vilas
W OUT!!! Gone is Vilas after a well-made half-century here. this was given a bit more air by Harmer and Vilas tries to sweep this towards the boundary at square leg where he finds Sams who gathers a good catch to dismiss him. He must be really proud of the innings he has played here in a knock out.
Vatsal: The physio is out in the middle as Vilas looks in pain, the ball has hit on his right hand as he ran to complete 2 for his 50, gets the treatment, and back onto the match
15.1 S Harmer to D Vilas
2 Fuller delivery towards the pads of Vilas and he advances down the track to flick this towards fine leg for a couple as he raises his bat too for his half-century.

14.6 M Critchley to D Vilas
1 Good length delivery just outside the off-stump and he ahs cut this of the back foot towards backward point for a single.
14.5 M Critchley to S Croft
3 Short and wide of the off-stump and he has cut this late towards the vacant third man region for 3 runs here.
14.4 M Critchley to D Vilas
1 Fuller delivery in the middle and he has swept this towards fine leg for a single.
14.3 M Critchley to D Vilas
6 SIX!!! This is ridiculously hit by the African player. The length was dragged back a bit this time by Critchley and he gets into the position to pull this early and he has pulled this out of the park over deep mid-wicket for a maximum.
14.2 M Critchley to D Vilas
2 Fuller and outside the off-stump and he has pushed this off the back foot just wide of the point fielder for a couple of runs.
14.1 M Critchley to S Croft
1 Tossed-up delivery outside the off-stump and Croft has hit this towards backward point for a single.
