This is me Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of Ninaad Dixit and Anmol Ahuja. Till next time, stay safe, happy, and get vaccinated if you already haven't. TA-TA and Goodbye from us now.
A historic day for Bangladesh cricket as they will celebrate long and hard while for the Kiwis it's a big wake-up call as to where they are as cricket has shown that it's enough to rest on your laurels. They will come back hard at Christchurch as the series will be up for grabs. Can Bangladesh win the series at the Hagley Oval or will New Zealand bounce back? All to play for as the series has got really exciting than many people had predicted.

That's it from our coverage of this Test Match. It has been an immense honor and pleasure to bring it to you at the start of the New Year. Do join us for the 2nd test starting from Sunday at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. There is plenty of cricket going on around the globe, so switch tabs to watch those and stay tuned to our network.
Mominul Haque: "Definitely happy as it was a team performance. Everybody put their hands up when they needed to. we won the match because of our bowlers. Bowled well in the first innings and then the second innings. In New Zealand, with the sun coming out, it spins a  lot. Ebadot was outstanding, he won us the game. I am happy for him. We have not played well good cricket at all in the last 2 -3 years in Tests, so this is an important and good win for us. Looking forward to the next game in Christchurch, we will cherish this and then forget about this game and focus on the challenges ahead. We want to win the series from here on. "
Tom Latham: "We weren't quite there in all three facets and Bangladesh just showed us how to go about things, the way they built partnerships, bowled and fielded. The surface was a bit slow than what we expected but full credit to Bangladesh for the way they played the last five days. It hurts but we are going to Christchurch in a few days'  time and hopefully turn it around there in the second Test. We have played a lot more cricket at Hagley and will learn from the Bangladesh players as well, the way they performed here."
Ebadot Hossain: "Our players tried to win here for the past 11 years but this time all the boys came together and put our hands up that we will beat New Zealand on their home soil and we all did it together. I am working with Ottis Gibson for the last two years. There is no help in Bangladesh conditions for fast bowlers, the pitches are too flat. We are still learning and I am trying to hit the top of the stumps every time. I am a soldier of the Bangladesh air force. It's a long story shifting from volleyball to cricket. I am enjoying my cricket and trying to represent the Bangladesh cricket team and the Bangladesh Air Force team."
Ebadot Hossain is the player of the match.
Taskin Ahmed: "It is an unbelievable effort we gave the last five days and it is our first Test win outside Asia. We didn't think about the result, we just stuck to our process and everyone gave their 110%. We have played lots of games in New Zealand but this is our first one (win).
A red-letter day for Bangladesh Cricket. 5th of January, 2022 is a day for Bangladesh cricket to remember. They have beaten the WTC champions New Zealand by 8 wickets at the Bay Oval. 20 years after playing their first test in New Zealand, they finally get a win against the Kiwis away from home. They have outplayed the Kiwis from Day2 onwards and it's fitting that Mushfiqur Rahim hit the winning runs alongside captain Mominul Haque. Captain and former captain in the end. Joy for Domingo and Bangladesh will celebrate and cherish this. Not often do you win in New Zealand and they have done it in 16.5 overs with 8 wickets in hand.

Starting Day5, Bangladesh took 10.3 overs today to get the last 5 Kiwi batsmen for just 22 runs. Ebadot getting 6 wickets, what a match-turning spell he bowled yesterday and even today got Ross Taylor out first up. Taskin chipped in with his 3 wickets and Mehidy picked the last wicket as well. The catching from the Tigers was special today and throughout the test match. They have bowled and batted better than the Kiwis. The Kiwis have been gracious in defeat. But they have not been at their best at all.

Chasing 42 for the win, Bangladesh lost Islam and Shanto to Boult and Southee but Mominul and Mushfiqur completed the formalities for the Tigers. It's their first win in New Zealand and their first away win against a top test-playing nation. A day to remember and a party to celebrate for them. So many heroes for them throughout the test match. Hassan Joy, Shanto, Taskin, Shoriful to name a few. The young guns of Bangladesh doing it today.

Time for the Presentation.
