Player Bio

Mominul Haque is the Test captain of Bangladesh and also a talented left-handed middle-order batsman who is gifted with a compact technique. Emerged from the U-19 World Cup, Haque debuted in 2012 and has been a pivotal part of Bangladesh since then. The southpaw has studied at BKSP and has been the most prolific Test cricketer for Bangladesh.

In 2010, he was picked for the U-19 World Cup squad, and later during the year, he was included in the Dhaka Division team where he clubbed some tremendous amount of runs in the domestic circles. On the back of two successful domestic seasons, Haque was included in the ODI and T20I team for the West Indies series in late 2012. A couple of months later, the elegant stroke-maker made his Test debut against Sri Lanka, where he clubbed two fifties in as many Tests. Later that year, he scored two back-to-back hundreds against New Zealand, since then Haque hasn’t dropped a single beat.

Despite being a regular part of the Test squad, the middle-order batter has never cemented his spot in Bangladesh’s limited-overs team. He was also part of the team that took part in the 2014 World T20 and 50-over World Cup of 2015, but Haque never found his way in the shorter formats.

Although the southpaw’s compact technique and full-flowing strokeplay have allowed him to belts thousands of Test runs. In 2019, the Cox Bazar-born was named the captain of the Bangladesh team in the longest format. As a skipper, Haque might have struggled, but Haque - the batter has a simple approach, knows his way to score some important runs for his country.
