Earlier in the day, Hurricanes were kept down to 121, on account of good performance by the Renegades’ bowlers. Georgia Warhead and Sophie Molineux stifled the Hurricanes after Priest and Johnston had settled in nicely. The two Renegades’ spinners combined figures of 8-0-25-5 meant their side needed just over a run a ball to put themselves on board with a win.
Renegades beat Hurricanes by 6 wickets to open with a win. An important win for the Renegades, who finished at the bottom of the table last season. In the end it got a bit too close for Renegades’ comfort but Harmanpreet Kaur settled the nerves down and delivered the winning blows. The Renegades’ opening win of the season revolved around a 68 run second wicket partnership between Jemimah Rodrigues and Courtney Webb. A couple of quick wickets caused a wobble for the chasing side. But Kaur, keeping a calm head on her shoulders, struck crucial blows at the end to complete the victory.
