Sourya: So it is time for me, Sourya Chowdhury to sign off, along with my fellow commentators Anurag Singh and Anurag Dasgupta. We hope you enjoyed this coverage. Goodnight.
Qais Ahmed is the man of the match for his 3/21.
Rizwan after the game: "We need to improve in the field. We give at least 10-15 runs away in the field, and that's a huge amount of runs in T20 cricket. We're struggling to build partnerships in the middle order, but Qais and Nawaz bolwed brilliantly and stifled our momentum. I'm in a bit of pain, and we're awaiting X-Rays on my foot. Hopefully it's all good."
Sourya: The Sultans, with Mohammad Rizwan and James Vince opening, looked to be in cruise control of the chase. But then leg-spinners Qais Ahmed and Zahir Mahmood entered the scene and completely changed the complexion of the game. The two got the ball to fizz and zip and not only got wickets but also cramped the scoring. Rizwan, who was hit on the foot and seemed to be in great pain throughout his innings, did make 66, but never seemed like he could take them home later. The young pacer Mohammed Hasnain also got two wickets and a great bowling performance ensured a deserving victory for the Gladiators.
Sourya: The Sultans won the toss and expectedly chose to field first. A fantastic 81 by debutant Usman Khan was the highlight of the Gladiators' innings and after a good start which set up a platform to get past 200, they lost their way. Khan looked composed and played with both finesse and power, but most of the other batsmen failed to find momentum in the crucial middle overs with the pace and swing of Shahnawaz Dhani and the leg spin of the wisened Imran Tahir ensuring they got to what seemed like a below-par total. Some innovative batting in the end by Mohammad Nawaz helped them to 176/7.
Sourya: So the streak is broken, finally a team has successfully defended a total here at the National Stadium in Karachi with the Quetta Gladiators getting home by 22 runs after a competitive encounter against the Multan Sultans to notch up their first victory of the competition.
19.4 Dale Steyn to Shahnawaz Dhani
W Fast short ball, Dahani hits it high into the air like a typical No 11 and Du Plessis runs in from long on to take a great catch
19.3 Dale Steyn to Imran Tahir
W Run out, slow cutter, played down to long off and he comes back for the second but a good throw and Sarfaraz takes down the wickets
19.2 Dale Steyn to Imran Khan
1b Another slow cutter that goes past the bat in a similar fashion once bounce to the keeper and they steal a bye
19.1 Dale Steyn to Imran Khan
0 Cutter on length goes past the bat as well as the leg stump but the batsman had made room so it beats his outside edge and is not a wide

18.5 Mohammad Hasnain to Imran Tahir
0 Nice slower bouncer there, grips a little and Tahir cannot reach it having backed away to the off side
18.4 Mohammad Hasnain to Imran Tahir
0 Fast and short, goes past the attempted pull through to the keeper
