Player Bio

An exciting leg-spinner, Qais Ahmed took 10 wickets on his first-class debut in the 2018 Ahmad Shah Abdali Tournament for Speen Ghar Region against Kabul and was awarded as the 'Man of the Match' for his feisty leggies, deceiving the batsman at the very highest level.

A master of the white ball, Ahmed has played in global franchise cricket all over the world making his debut in Big Bash League (BBL) in 2019 for the Hobart Hurricanes. Qais showed his class in his very first match in the premier T20 tournament on Australian soil. He picked up a four-wicket haul that guided his team to a 25-run victory. There wasn’t any doubt about giving the 'Player of the Match' award to Qais. He will now be looking to carry on with his rich vein of form.

On the back of a successful domestic season, he got his maiden call-up in Afghanistan’s national team in the one-off series against Bangladesh in September 2019 and made his T20 debut a year later against Ireland. Having represented Afghanistan at the international stages in just 2 games, the 20-year old was signed by the Quetta Gladiators for the 2021 edition of the Pakistan Super League.
