It was a pleasure bringing you updates from this match. Do join us within an hour as Mumbai Indians lock horns against Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 1 in Dubai. I, Akshay Bhide along with my co-commentator Arjun Bhalla take your leave. Goodbye.
A cakewalk chase for the Trailblazers as they eased past Velocity and move at the top of the table. The Women will have an off day tomorrow and the Trailblazers will face SuperNovas on Saturday in Sharjah.
Sophie Ecclestone, Player of the Match: We have a great team, to come up here and play for them is great. The wicket wasn't turning, so I tried to keep straight. It's quite nice to get few wickets. So many youngsters with around, they are teaching me the Hindi language and I'm trying to understand their culture.
Sophie Ecclestone is awarded the Player of the Match award for her sensational figures of 3.1-1-9-4
Smriti Mandhana | Trailblazers captain: We were really excited. We were raring to play cricket after a break of seven months. It was a good game. I was happy with Mithali's decision as we wanted to have a look at the wicket. The bowling plans were according to the batters. I just told all the bowlers to keep it back of a length and stick to the stump line. We have a good spin attack. I was following IPL, so I thought we had a good bowling attack (with all the spinners). It's an exciting tournament, even last year it was really exciting. It's an amazing opportunity for everyone. This is really going to help women's cricket.
Mithali Raj | Velocity captain: Definitely (would want to forget this game). But it is fine because when you have a fresh wicket the batters want to have a bat. That's the reason we chose to bat. Personally I would have liked Dani and Shafali to have a big partnership because they are the key for our batting line up and we are dependent on them to give us a start. Unfortunately in both the games we didn't get that, Shafali played a cameo but we wanted Dani to spend some time in the middle and then there was a collapse. We are going to recover from this defeat. I think it is important we regroup and analyse, we haven't had much of preparation, two games back to back and no team gets bad in one game. The girls just need to cheer up because they would have felt bad after today's game.
Let's hear what the skippers have to say.
Earlier in the day, Mithali Raj won the toss and opted to bat first. The decision backfired as none of the batters got going. The pitch was slow and keeping low and the TraliBlazers bowlers bowled nice lengths to restrict the scoring rate. Jhulan picked the first wicket of Shafali Verma in the 3rd over and then the Velocity batters fell apart like a house of cards. They collapsed from 17/0 to 47 all out. Sophie Ecclestone was brilliant picking 4 wickets giving just 9 runs. Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Jhulan Goswami chipped in with 2 wickets each and the Velocity only managed to put 47 on the board. The total was never big enough as TrailBlazers chased the total in 8th over.
The total to chase for TrailBlazers was a mere 48. Mandhana and Dottin came out to bat with intent. Both were stuggling early on to time and Mandhana departed to Kasperek in the 4th over trying to accelerate. Dottin stayed there till the end and scored 29 comprising of 3 boundaries before Richa Gosh smacked a maximum to finish things off in the 8th over. The bowlers didn't had enough runs to play with and TrailBlazers eased past the total.
TrailBlazers have thumped Velocity here in Sharjah. They beat Velocity by 9 wickets and finish the game in 8th over.
