Player Bio

Another talented pacer to have come out of the Bangladeshi youth setup, Abu Jayed is a professional cricketer who plays for Bangladesh national cricket team.

Jayed first caught the attention during the 2016-17 National Cricket League. He scalped 29 wickets in the competition and was named as the next rising star in Bangladeshi cricket.

Jayed continued his good performances in the domestic competitions and was the leading wicket-taker in the 2018-19 Bangladesh Premier League, with 18 dismissals in thirteen games.

A right-arm fast bowler with an ability to chip in with wickets at regular intervals, Jayed made his T20I debut for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka in February 2018 and in the same year was drafted in the Test squad for Bangladesh’s tour of West Indies.

Jayed was included in the Bangladesh squad for the 2019 World Cup. Questions were raised on his selection as he was still uncapped in an ODI game.

In Jayed’s second-ever ODI match, he bagged his first fifer, scalping 5 for 58 against Ireland.

In late 2021, the skilful bowler was drafted in the Bangladesh Test squad for their series against the visiting Pakistan side.
