Born on April 6, 1956, in Lahore, Mudassar Nazar is a former Pakistan all-rounder. Interestingly, his father, Nazar Mohammad was the first Pakistani cricketer to score a century in Test cricket.
Mudassar made his domestic debut in the 1971/72 season. However, it took him a good time to finally feature in his first international match, which was a Test fixture against Australia in December 1976. He made his ODI debut in the following year against England.
In his only second red-ball match, Mudassar displayed his class by hitting 114 against a strong bowling unit of the English team. It is still the slowest ever hundred in the history of Test cricket in terms of minutes (591) and balls (449).
His best Test bowling performance came against England in August 1982, where he took 6/38.
During the 1982/83 series against India, the talented batter hit a sensational 231 and stitched a partnership of 451 runs with Javed Miandad.
In April 1986, against Australia, Mudassar registered his career-best score of 95 in the limited-overs format.
His last international appearance for Pakistan came in an ODI fixture against Pakistan in March 1989, wherein he scored 48 runs.
The skilful all-rounder finished with 4114 runs in 76 Tests, with ten hundreds and had 66 scalps as well. In the ODIs, he scored 2653 runs and took 111 wickets in 122 appearances.
After his retirement, he served as a coach for teams like Pakistan and Kenya. Furthermore, Mudassar was the head coach of the United Arab Emirates team in the 2022 edition of the U-19 World Cup.
