Player Bio

Abdul Wasi is an all-rounder who plays for the Afghanistan cricket team and made his international debut in 2021.

A right-handed batsman, and a leg-break bowler, Wasi made his first-class debut playing for Amo Region in 2018 and was named the 'Player of the Match' for picking up 6 wickets in the match and scoring a gritty 44 in the first innings.

Wasi was the leading wicket-taker in his debut season, with 54 dismissals in 10 matches, and was also named the 'Player of the Tournament'.

Consistent performances in the domestic circuit earned Wasi a place in Afghanistan’s squad for the 2019 Emerging Teams Asia Cup.

Two years later, the talented all-rounder was named as a reserve player for the Test series against Zimbabwe. In March 2021, Wasi made his international debut in the first Test match of the series against Zimbabwe.

He had an average outing both with the bat & the bowl, scoring just 12 runs in the two innings and went wicketless in the whole match.

A promising young player, Wasi has all the tools to succeed at the highest level. He is still raw at the moment and with proper guidance, Wasi could be the next big thing for Afghan cricket.
