Player Bio

An elegant middle-order batsman, Ryan Higgins is a Zimbabwe-born cricketer who has adopted himself in English conditions for the Middlesex club. The handy offie transformed himself into a dynamic all-rounder in white-ball cricket for Gloucestershire, his current Championship side.

Since moving to England from Zimbabwe aged 13, Higgins has always thrived in difficult situations. Higgins made his T20 and List A debuts for Middlesex, getting to play at Lord's. He shot to prominence in a T20 fixture, revealing his wicket-taking ability picking 5/13 against Hampshire, taking Middlesex into the quarterfinals. The following season in the blast he smacked unbeaten 68 from 28 balls against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham which paved the path for the youngster to Gloucestershire next season.

Fifty wickets during Gloucestershire’s County Championship promotion-winning campaign were accompanied by 958 runs – the leading allrounder in the domestic game. His reward was a place on the PCA Players’ Player of the Year shortlist – a fine accolade in any case, let alone in this unprecedented year. A fine striker of the white-ball, he was signed by the Welsh Fire for the exciting Hundred ball tournament.
