Chris Nash

Chris Nash ended up with a 15-year-long association with Sussex when he linked up with his former coach, Peter Moores at Nottinghamshire. A tall burly middle-order batsman, Nash is also a handy off-break bowler, who has tons of experience as he has been playing county cricket since 2002. 

Born in Sussex’s Cuckfield, a 19-year-old Nash made his first-class debut when he covered an injured Mark Davies, back in the Championship of 2002. However, it took him 5 years to really breakthrough into the first team. A compact-and-reliable batter surpassed the 1000 FC run mark - twice in 2009 and 2010, before breaking into the England Lions squad in 2011.

As his career progressed, the Cuckfield-born turned into an integral part of Sussex CCC, he became a go-to man with the bat, while his part-time off-break became more of partnership-breaking bowling. Later in 2012, the all-rounder was named in the PCA Team of the Year, courtesy of his all-round excellence. The following year, Nash again clubbed over 1000 FC runs as the 2013 season ended. 

2014 saw the all-rounder missing a fair share of the season as the post-surgery symptoms of gangrene infection kept him away from the game. He returned onto the field by September that year, to score a hundred against Notts. Three years later, he moved to Nottinghamshire on a three-year contract, after scoring more than 11000 FC and 6000 white-ball runs for Sussex. 

The seasoned campaigner missed the majority of the 2018 season, thanks to a serious shoulder injury. Although at 38, Nash is more than motivated as he wants to be playing till he is forty.
