Player Bio

A tall and traditional seamer for the English conditions, Toby Roland-Jones is a professional cricketer for Middlesex County Club. After bursting onto the scene 10 years ago, Toby has been a regular feature in the country’s domestic circuit since.

After famously sealing the County Championship title with an incredible hat-trick against Yorkshire, Toby set his foot on the international stage on July 27th, 2017 against Proteas in a Test fixture. Immediately, he impressed in his first match with figures of 8/129 including a first-innings five-wicket haul. In an impressive start, he took 17 wickets in four Tests before stress fracture brought an unexpected halt to his blossoming career.

The Ashford-born seamer was all set to tour Australia for the Ashes series but an injured back put paid to the hopes and also went on to plague him during the 2018 season. However, Toby was back to his best in 2019 where he quietly battled back to enjoy a fine season for Middlesex.

As he raced to get up to speed for the truncated 2020 summer, his right shoulder gave up on him and he did not play a single game. At 33 years of age, Toby might have fallen back in the English pecking order but is hopeful of representing England again which is an outrageous task for the seamer.
