Player Bio

Kartik Tyagi is another fast bowler hailing from Uttar Pradesh. Kartik, more often than not, tests batsmen with back of length deliveries and the ability to generate raw pace makes him a difficult force to face. He started representing his state team at a tender age of 16 years in the 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

However, the young gun came to recognition when he played the U19 World Cup in 2020. In the Junior World Cup, he represented India six times and bagged 11 wickets. After the ICC event, Rajasthan Royals bought the young force for the 2020 season of the Indian Premier League. Karthik made his debut against MI and got his first flesh in the form of Quinton de Kock.

However, Kartik displayed his true potential in a match against Chennai and outsmarted Shane Watson. Initially, Watson hammered him for a couple of boundaries but he persisted with his lengths and got the reward in Watson’s wicket. The pacer didn’t get many wickets in his first IPL season but he finished the season with a lot of promise, which enabled the Royals to retain him for the 14th season.

Post IPL 2020, he was named as one of the four net bowlers to tour with the Indian team for the Australian season in the 2020-21. During that tour, the pacer again showcased his raw pace in a warm-up game before the Test series when he bowled a bouncer targeting Will Pucovski who got tangled in his pull shot and got the ball hit on his helmet. Post India’s historic series win Down Under, head coach praised Karthik’s enthusiasm and stated, “If there were a concussion injury, Kartik Tyagi would have also played”. The lethal pacer is rising up through the ranks and his promising talents lauds that he would serve the Indian team in the coming years.
