A new contract has not been offered to the competition's all-time leading run scorer Chris Lynn, who is the most capped player for the Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League's history.

Perth Scorchers were on Friday crowned champions of the BBL 2021-22 after beating Sydney Sixers in the final in Melbourne. Defending a target of 172 runs in 20 over, the Scorchers bundled out Sydney Sixers for 92 runs in the 17th over. The Sixers started off the proceedings in a dismal manner after they lost an early wicket and couldn't really get back on track as they lost wickets at regular intervals to eventually get bowled out. Earlier, the Scorchers too had a disappointing start to the innings as the were left tottering at 25/4 but 104-run stand between Turner and Laurie Evans certainly turned fortunes for them. Both the players scored inidvidual fifties while Evans remained unbeaten at 76 off 41 during the course as Scorchers put 171/6 in 20 overs on the board.

Riding on some exceptional performance from their bowling unit, Perth Scorchers were crowned the BBL 2021-22 champions after they bundled out Sydney Sixers for 92 while chasing 172 in the final in Melbourne. The Sydney side never really looked in control as they lost wickets at regular intervals before getting bowled out. Daniel Hughes was the only pick of the batters for the side after he chipped in with a 33-ball 42 but his dismissal in the 13th over certainly broke the shackles. Andrew Tye returned with figures of 3/15 in 3 overs for Scorchers while Jhye Richardson had a couple of scalps to his name at the cost of 20 runs in 3.2 overs. Earlier in the day, the Perth team too had a struggling start as they were reduced to 25/4 but Ashton turner and Laurie Evans then steadied the ship with a partnership of 104 runs for the fifth wicket. Both the batsmen notched up individual fifties with Evans remaining unbeaten at 76 off 41 to help the side post 171/6 in 20 overs. Nathan Lyon returned with two wickets for 24 runs in 3 overs for Sydney Sixers. "It's always interesting. Copped one on the nose from one of the shoulders (smiles, when asked about the blood from his nose). only played two games. Both the batsmen notched up individual fifties during the course with Turner eventually getting out for 54 off 35. Evans on the other side remained unbeaten at 76 off 41 as Scorchers put up 171/6 in 20 overs on the board. Steve o Keefe picked up two wickets but returned with expensive figures of 2/43 in 4 overs while Nathan Lyon also bagged a couple at the cost of 24 runs in three overs.

Sydney Sixers had a brilliant start to the proceedings in the final of the BBL 2021-22 against Perth Scorchers after they got three early wickets. Jackson Bird first removed Kurtis Patterson for a 4-ball 1 and then Steve O Keefe got rid of Josh Inglis after he was stumped out by Lenton for 13 off 13. Later, off-spinner Nathan Lyon scalped the priced wicket of Mitchell Marsh who played a tossed-up delivery from the bowler straight to Christian at long-on region. The side was left tottering at 20/3. Earlier, the Perth Scorchers had defeated the Sydney Sixers in the Qualifier to register a berth in the final while Sydney defeated Adelaide Strikers in the Challenger to march ahead in the title clash.
