England considering Justin Langer as the new head coach of men’s team
England’s interim director of the men’s cricket team - Andrew Strauss has stated that outgoing Australian coach Justin Langer is in consideration for the England job. Speaking to the Guardian, Strauss said, “He will be one of the names.” the development comes days after former head coach Coach Chris Silverwood was sacked from the role in the aftermath of the Ashes series, where England were found out of the depth in every department. They were able to eke out a draw in the fourth Test match of the series, but lost all of the rest. Strauss is known to be longtime admirer of Langer’s work, having worked with him in the County Championships before. Langer’s reputation as a white ball coach had risen after his exploits with the Perth Scorchers where he won three Big Bash League titles. He was then graduated to the role of Australia head coach in the aftermath of the infamous Sandpaper Gate. He was a big part of reviving the ethos of Australian cricket and ultimately left after winning the T20 World Cup and Ashes series.
