That is the end of our coverage as well. Head Coach Gautam Gambhir and full-time T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav begin the new era with a commanding 2-0 series win with a game in hand.

For now, this is me AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Ajay Pal Singh and Deepak Prakash, who, alongside our scorer/analyst Raju Khariya, brought you all the live action of this mouth-watering fixture. We will meet in another game. Until then, its cheers!
MOST WINS AGAINST A SINGLE TEAM IN T20IS:

Pakistan against New Zealand- 23 wins in 44 T20Is

England against Pakistan-  21 wins in 31 T20Is

India against Sri Lanka- 20 wins in 30 T20Is*

India against Australia- 20 wins in 32 T20Is
Suryakumar Yadav (India Captain): "Absolutely! I mean, we discussed the template and the brand of cricket we want to play in this series before going travelling here. Even though it was a shorter target, this is the template we want going ahead.

With the weather around, I thought anything below 160 or 150 chasing would have been nice. We have seen games here have been tricky. Rain helped us (chuckles). The way the boys batted was wonderful to see.

(About possible changes in the next match) We will sit and decide what we will do going forward. A little bit of luck has to go around and we were just blessed with the rain as well.

Very happy for the boys. Showed a lot of character in tough situations."
Charith Asalanka (Sri Lanka Captain): "Definitely disappointed about the middle order, lower middle order including me. We have to work hard on it.

This pitch when the ball gets older, it becomes hard to bat but I think as professional cricketers, we have to do well.

Definitely, we were behind by 15-18 runs. Weather also played its part. It's not easy to bowl 8 overs with a wet outfield."
Ravi Bishnoi (Player of the Match): "It (pitch) was a little different than yesterday. In the previous game, it was helping the spinners in the first innings. In the second innings, it didn't turn much. Tonight, it was different. In the first innings, it helped the spinners.

I stick to my plans. My pace is a good pace for me, I enjoy bowling in that pace. I just love bowling the wrong 'uns to the left-hander, especially. I will back myself bowling in the powerplay and take responsibility. Bowling at death is a good responsibility andit means the captain and the management trust in me."

11:25 PM IST and Local Time: We are ready with the post-match presentations...
11:16 PM IST & Local Time: That's it. India has secured a resounding series victory over Sri Lanka with a game to spare, a landmark achievement in Gautam Gambhir's inaugural series as head coach. Suryakumar Yadav begins his stint as full-time captain of the Indian T20I side with an easy win. It was a reduced game and India had to chase 78 runs in 8 overs but they got over the line with 9 balls to spare.

Earlier in the match, India won the toss and opted to bowl first. Sri Lanka won the first half of their innings, scoring 80 runs for the loss of two wickets.

However, Indian bowlers roared back into the contest in the second half and restricted the hosts to under 165.

Sri Lanka posted a total of 161/9 from their 20 overs thanks to a half-century from Kusal Perera, who made 53 off 34.

Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 3/26. Axar Patel bowled the last over of the innings and got 2/30 from his four overs. Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya too picked up two wickets apiece.

Rain started to fall soon after India's innings. They had only faced 3 balls before it started pouring down and we had a halt in play.

India's innings resumed with a revised target in front of them. They had to chase 78 from 8 overs.

Dasun Shanaka's first over went for 10. Maheesh Theekshana sent back Sanju Samson for a golden duck.

Skipper Suryakumar Yadav took down the spinner and hit Theekshana for three boundaries in his second over.

SKY made 26 off 12 and he was well supported by Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 30 off 15 before being dismissed.

Hardik Pandya came in and hit the winning runs for Team India, remaining unbeaten on 22 off just 9 balls.

Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana and Wanindu Hasaranga all picked up one wicket each but it wasn't enough to save the series. Stay tuned for the post-match presentations.
6.3 M Pathirana to H Pandya
4 FOUR MORE!!! That's it! India win by 7 wickets in a rain-curtailed chase with 9 balls remaining! Pandya with the final shot of the match! 146 kmph. Pace on from Pathirana. Back of a length outside the off stump. Width on offer as Pandya backs away and slashes it nicely. Finds the gap between backward point and deep third man and finds the winning boundary. So, the Men In Blue win their first bilateral series under the new coach Gautam Gambhir as they take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series!
The scores are level. Pandya wants to finish this in a hurry.
6.2 M Pathirana to H Pandya
4 FOURRRR!!! That will level the scores! A meaty blow from Pandya and shows some swag! 121 kmph slower ball from Pathirana. Full and outside the off stump. With mid-off in the circle, this is a poor option from the right-arm pacer. Pandya takes full toll off it and gets onto the front foot with full confidence. Clears his front leg and drives it right in between mid off and extra cover for a crunching four.
6.1 M Pathirana to R Pant
1 Over the wicket. Back of a length on the middle stump. Pant hops back and tucks it to deep backward square leg for a single.
Hasaranga finishes with 1/34 from 2 overs. India need 6 runs from 12 balls.
