Middlesex’s fielding was lacklustre, and their bowling was erratic, with deliveries spraying in all directions and variations proving ineffective. They were thoroughly outplayed in every department. The Middlesex bowlers were left searching for answers as they were dispatched to all corners of the ground, unable to curb the onslaught from the Sussex openers.
