That's all from this rain-hit contest, folks! Washington Freedom faced their first defeat in this MLC and they would look to stage a comeback in the playoffs. We hope you enjoyed our coverage. For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of co-commentators Ayan Chatterjee, Ajay Pal Singh, and scorer/analyst Ghanendra Singh Thakur. CHEERS!
Corey Anderson (San Francisco Unicorns Captain): "(On Krishnamurthi's knock) I'm not surprised. We've seen glimpses of it plenty of times, and I'm hugely proud of how he performed today. I know the whole group is as well. And look, he's only 20, so he's still a young kid. He's got such a mature head on his shoulders. I'm excited for him and for leading him into these finals. He's going to be a big player for us.

We have great depth in our squad, and things can change quickly in this competition, so we need to be ready for anything. Hassan Khan is a key player for us; he can bat and bowl in the middle order, and we can rely on him at any stage of the innings."
Steve Smith (Washington Freedom Captain): "Yes, i thought we played nicely. We were in for a big score and then rain came. 177 was a decent score to defend but they batted well. Great game of cricket.

Take the game on. Travis has done really well and we compliment well with each other. I got a quick start and then it never happens but love batting with him.

Good question. It was challenging for the bowlers with the wet ball. They batted well and credit to them.

Tough time to bowl and we really struggled. But they tried their best. It happens. We will put this to bed and come back stronger in the next game."
Sanjay Krishnamurthi (Most Valuable Player of the Match): "I want to thank God for the opportunity. I wanted to take my chances, and it paid off today. I've been working on the mental side of my game since I joined the team last year."
Most Valuable Player of the Match: Sanjay Krishnamurthi.
Play of the Day: Tajinder Singh
Power Hitter of the Match: Sanjay Krishamurthi (315 feet).
Time for the presentations.
Josh Inglis (San Francisco Unicorns): "Pretty happy with that. Would have liked to stay till the end, but the boys got the job done and great second innings. Nothing much, just backed myself to hit in the 9th over. I do train a lot and that helps me a lot. That was in show. It gives us confidence to go into the Qualifiers and this win was needed. Not so sure. They are a quality side and we are playing well. So, it's going to be a great game I feel. Outstanding innings from Sanjay and he won us the game. Good confidence booster for him."
9:58 AM IST, 23:28 Local Time: A ferocious hitting from Sanjay Krishnamurthi, who made 79 runs off just 42 balls and helped Unicorns chase 177 runs with 2 balls to spare in a rain-hit game. Washington Freedom taste their first defeat in this MLC.

Earlier, after being invited to bat first, Washington Freedom posted 174/3 in 15.3 overs when the rain intervened and halted the progress for more than 1.5 hours, bringing Freedom’s innings to an end. The DLS target was then adjusted to 177 runs in 14 overs for the Unicorns. Travis Head and Steven Smith provided a rollicking start to Freedom adding 101 runs for the opening over, with both contributing 56 runs each. Andries Gous was unbeaten on 29 runs off 20 balls when the rain arrived.

Corey Anderson was the only bowler for the Unicorns to pick up a couple of wickets, while the rest went wicketless.

In pursuit of 177 runs, the Unicorns lost Finn Allen for a golden duck on the very first ball of the innings. Jake Fraser-McGurk added a cameo of 18 runs before Sanjay Krishnamurthi and Josh Inglis paired up to stitch together 77 runs for the third wicket. Inglis departed after a rapid 45 runs off 17 balls, but Krishnamurthi continued his merry ways, reaching fifty. He then formed a crucial 50+ run partnership with Hassan Khan, who smashed an unbeaten 32 off 11 balls. The 21-year-old Krishnamurthi remained unbeaten on 79 runs and guided his side to victory with 2 balls to spare.

Andrew Tye bagged three wickets for Washington, grabbing three wickets but conceded 41 runs in 3 overs. Akeal Hosein contributed a solitary wicket.

Stay tuned for the presentation.....
