Match number 9 of Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024 will see the defending champions MI New York square off against second-placed Texas Super Kings at Church Street Park, Morrisville on Saturday (July 13).

MI New York are third on the points table, with one win and one defeat from their two games so far.

The Super Kings, on the other hand, have played three matches so far. They have won one, lost one, and had one game ended in a no-result due to inclement weather.

Super Kings have been rocked with injuries in this season. Fast-bowler Gerald Coetzee was ruled out due to a side strain while Devon Conway copped a blow to his right hand in the last match while facing a bouncer from Haris Rauf.

Conway had walked off the field during TSK's run chase against San Francisco Unicorns and his availability is in doubt.

In their last match, TSK bowled out San Francisco Unicorns for 127 in 17.5 overs thanks to an outstanding spell from Mohammad Mohsin, who picked up 4/13.

Matthew Short was the top-scorer with a knock of 33 off 15. No other batter from the Unicorns managed to cross the 20-run mark.

In reply, skipper Faf du Plessis and Devon Conway got the team off to a flying start. They added 61 runs inside the first five overs before the former lost his wicket.

In the 9th over, Conway suffered a blow to his right hand off Haris Rauf and walked off the field.

Aaron Hardie and Joshua Tromp then added 23 runs to take TSK close to the win. Both batters fell in the span of three deliveries but Mitchell Santner came in and hit a few big shots to take the Super Kings over the line with 13 balls to spare.

MI New York, on the other hand, are coming off a defeat against Washington Freedom in a rain-affected clash.

Batting first, MI New York only managed to score 154/9 from their 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran top-scored with a knock of 44 while Ruben Clinton (28) and Rashid Khan (31) made notable contributions with the bat.

In reply, Washington Freedom scored 55/1 after 7.4 overs before rain came in and halted the proceedings. The match couldn't continue, and Washington Freedom were declared as winners based on DLS method.
