10:55 PM IST, 18:25 Local Time: A comprehensive victory for Yorkshire Vikings as they restricted Northamptonshire to 157/8 in 20 overs, winning by a margin of 29 runs.
Earlier, Yorkshire won the toss and opted to bat first. Joe Root (35) and Dawid Malan (41) added 67 runs for the first wicket, but Ravi Bopara wreaked havoc with the ball and bagged four wickets in a jiffy as the Vikings were 100/4 in the 13th over.
Shan Masood (36* off 17) and Dominic Bess (28 off 14) forged a solid partnership in the middle overs and steadied the ship, while Jordan Thompson's rapid 7-ball 20 runs at the cue end of the innings helped Yorkshire cross the 185-run mark.
Ravi Bopara shone with the ball for Northamptonshire, bagging four wickets, while David Willey and George Scrimshaw celebrated a solitary wicket.
In pursuit of 186 runs, Ricardo Vasconcelos (37) and Matthew Breetzke added 37 runs for the first wicket, with the latter departing for a mere 11 runs. Northamptonshire kept losing wickets at regular intervals and never looked ahead in the chase. Ravi Bopara tried to steady the ship but perished after scoring 35 runs off 21 balls.
