It’s time to wrap up our coverage of the second match of CPL 2024. This is Saipavan Janaki signing off on behalf of my co-commentator AkshayaKrishna Polya and our scorer/analyst Ashok Dayma. Stay tuned for more cricketing action on our network. Thank you for joining us!
Imran Tahir (Guyana Amazon Warriors Captain): "It was a great game. Everyone enjoyed this game. It was a nail-biter. We showed our character. Any player in our team can finish the job. We have the batting till number 9. I am happy and pleased.

We know Romario can hit the ball. He did that for us last year as well. We have got Keemo Paul and have batting until number 9. Our number 9 came in and hit a six. Sheppy (Shepherd) was unbelievable.

We had a good start, we kept losing wickets but as I said, we showed our character and proved we can overcome any challenge.

Thanks to the Guyana fans. They are amazing and I am thankful for their support. Back in Guyana, everyone would be watching the game and will be proud.

We were witness to the best atmosphere to play in. I have heard that even Sinclair opened in First-Class cricket."
Chris Green (Antigua & Barbuda Falcons Captain): "Yes, it's unfortunate that both games have gone to the last ball. It's still early in the tournament, and there's a lot to learn from these matches. We know that Mohammad Amir is one of the best bowlers; he can bowl crucial overs and take wickets while keeping the runs in check.

I can say many small moments in the game that made a difference. We were may be 5-10 runs short. Shepherd played well in the middle, and Pretorius finished the game for them. It's disappointing, we played good cricket overall. There's still a lot of cricket left in the tournament. We stand as a unit and will aim to do well in the next matches."
Gudakesh Motie (POTM): "I won't say that I am in the form of my life. I will say that it is hard work. I will say hard work pays off. I have been working hard over the years, which is paying off. Lovely to be back. They are a bunch of amazing guys, and happy to be with the team.

Not a pinch-hitter. It is a team decision. I know I have the ability to strike the ball.

Working hard at the moment and want to take it on a game to game basis. I was not nervous, I know the capabilities of my teammates. For the last one, I was a bit nervous; Amir missed his mark, and it got easier for us."
Player of the Match: Gudakesh Motie
08.11 AM IST, 10.41 PM Local Time: That's it.....Guyana Amazon Warriors secured their first victory of the CPL 2024 tournament with an all-round performance, beating Antigua & Barbuda Falcons by 3 wickets. It was a thrilling game where the Warriors showcased their strength in both batting and bowling, culminating in a dramatic finish with Dwaine Pretorius hitting the winning six off the last ball.

Earlier, after being put into bat, the Falcons lost Teddy Bishop early due to a direct hit from Shai Hope. However, Fakhar Zaman (40 off 33) and Kofi James (37 off 24) steadied the ship with a 74-run partnership. Gudakesh Motie then turned the game with a brilliant spell, taking 3/25, which triggered a middle-order collapse.

The Falcons were struggling at 114/5, but Imad Wasim played a crucial late cameo, scoring 40 off just 21 balls, and added a 54-run partnership with Fabian Allen (11* off 15) to take the team to a solid total. Despite Motie's efforts, the Warriors’ bowling lacked consistency, with Shamar Joseph being particularly expensive. Antigua & Barbuda Falcons posted a competitive 168/6 in their 20 overs.

While chasing a total of 169 runs. Warriors got a steady start from Rahmanullah Gurbaz (20 off 14) and Shai Hope (41 off 34), then Warriors faced challenges as wickets fell at crucial moments. Shimron Hetmyer (19 off 21) and Azam Khan (9 off 9) couldn’t capitalize, putting the chase on a knife-edge.

But Romario Shepherd, who smashed 32 off 16 balls, and Dwaine Pretorius, who scored an unbeaten 20 off 10, including a six off the final ball to seal the win. Shamar Joseph contributed with a vital 6* off 3 balls. Despite solid bowling efforts from Chris Green and Imad Wasim, the Falcons couldn’t defend their total.

Stay tuned for the post match presentation....

What a thrilling finish! A six off the last ball and Guyana Amazon Warriors clinch the victory in dramatic fashion. The match ends with a nail-biting finish! Pretorious, you beauty!
19.6 M Amir to D Pretorius
6 SIXXXXX!!! DEAR ME! WHAT A FINISH! DWAINE PRETORIUS, TAKE A BOW! NOWHERE GUYANA WERE WINNING THIS! Full and slanted across wide outside the off stump. 123 kmph. Amir misses the yorker and pays the price. Pretorius gets down on one knee and again reaches for it using his height. Gets under it and powers it through the line downtown. Gets a good connection and hammers it over long off, clearing the fielder for a maximum. The defending champions steal this game from the Falcons, who have been undone in two consecutive last-ball thrillers! Guyana Amazon Warriors needed 16 off the final over, and Pretorius took Amir for 18! The Guyana players sprint to the middle, and the Protea all-rounder nails the finishing as the visitors snap this chase with a three-wicket victory!
4 runs needed from the final ball, it’s a dramatic finish!
19.5 M Amir to D Pretorius
4 FOURRRR!!! WOW! WHAT A SHOT FROM PRETORIUS! HOW DID HE GET IT THERE? I don't know! Attempted yorker angled across past the tramline outside off. Amir misses it by just and that is enough for Pretorius to reach for it using his height. He throws his hands at it, slicing it through backward point for a boundary. The Guyana dug out is over the moon! They know that this can be done now!
With 8 runs needed off 2 balls, the situation is getting even more intense.
19.4 M Amir to D Pretorius
0 DOT BALL! A full ball angled across outside the off stump. Pretorius goes hard with the slash but misses to the keeper.
19.3 M Amir to D Pretorius
4 FOUR MORE!!! Back 2 back boundaries for Pretorius! This is a streaky one, but that doesn't matter to Guyana! A low full toss on the off stump. Pretorius squeezes it off the inner half past short fine leg to his right for a boundary. No chance for the fielder to get there despite a long chase!
12 runs needed off last 4 balls.
19.2 M Amir to D Pretorius
4 FOURRRR!!! Why did Amir go to the stumps? Not sure! Pretorius will take it. A low full toss on the stumps. Pretorius flicks it behind the square in the leg side for a crucial boundary.
19.1 M Amir to D Pretorius
0 Over the wicket. Full and angled across close to the tramline outside off. Pretorius fails to get bat on ball as he fails to reach for it.
Amir will bowl the last over.
