Chamari Athapaththu collects the Asia Cup trophy from Shammi Silva and hands it over to the youngsters as the party poppers go off. The celebrations will go on forever. This is a huge win for Sri Lanka Women.
Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka Women Captain): "I am feeling happy. Happy with the team's performance. Special shoutout to youngsters, Harshitha and Kavisha. Definitely this is not a one man show. The support staff and team need to work together.

Finally we have won the Asia Cup. Special thanks to Sri Lankan cricket board. I am really to see so many people come to the stadium and support us. I think this win will inspire the young girls for the future.

I am enjoying cricket. This is my duty to lead from the front and I am enjoying this role. We talk about positives in the dressing room and no one talks about the negatives.

Next target is World Cup but we have to focus on one game at a time. Yeah, I hope so till next 50-over World Cup, I would like to continue playing for Sri Lanka."
Sri Lanka players are now receiving their winners medals.
Harmanpreet Kaur (India Women Captain): "I think we played good cricket throughout the tournament but we did made a few fumbles in the field and that is what cost us.

The powerplay went our way but no doubt they played well and didn't give us much chance.

Definitely, we need to improve for the World Cup now. We will work hard and definitely will remember this day. They played good cricket, they have been playing good cricket in the tournament and they were better today."
Indian players are receiving their runners-up medals.
Player of the Tournament: Chamari Athapaththu
Harshita Samarawickrama (Player of the match): "I am very happy to score in this game. Had a failure earlier and was itching to do well against India.

When Chamari got out, I wanted to carry the momentum with Kavisha. I am thankful that there was freedom from the team management to go out there and express ourselves."
Player of the match: Harshitha Samarawickrama

6:11 PM IST & Local Time: SRI LANKA have created history, they defeat the defending champions by 8 wickets and the whole squad has charged on the field to celebrate a terrific win. They have outclassed the 7-time champions and secured their maiden Women's Asia Cup title. Chamari Athapaththu can be really proud of the effort of her team. The crowd in Dambulla is going crazy in the stands.

Earlier in the match, India Women batted first and posted 165/6 from their 20 overs after being put into bat by Sri Lanka Women.

Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma gave India a solid start with a partnership of 44. Mandhana scored her second half-century and made 60 off 47.

Richa Ghosh (29) and Jemimah Rodrigues (30) were the only other batters who made notable contributions.

Kavisha Dilhari picked up two wickets while Udeshika Prabodhani, Chamari Athapaththu, and Sachini Nisansala picked up one wicket apiece.

In reply, Chamari Athapaththu and Vishmi Gunaratne couldn't get the hosts a good start as the latter lost her wicket in the second over after a terrible mix-up with her skipper.

Athapaththu carried on and scored a fine half-century, scoring 61 off 43. She was bowled around her legs by Deepti Sharma but not before she added 87 runs with Harshitha Madavi Samarawickrama.

India had the chance to send back Samarawickrama back to the hut in the 13th over but Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur spilled an easy chance at mid off and gave Sri Lanka's number three a life.

Kavisha Dilhari remained unbeaten on 30 off 16 and she also hit the winning runs finishing the game with a maximum.

Only Deepti Sharma managed to get a wicket as the rest of the bowlers went wicketless in a disappointing bowling performance. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation!
