That's it from Hyderabad tonight. A tense evening with the covers coming off on several occasions but the rain prevailed and the match has been called off. Both teams get a point each with Sunrisers Hyderabad confirming their spot in the playoffs with Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders. Gujarat Titans were already eliminated and have finished their campaign with 12 points to their name.

Sunrisers will face the Punjab Kings at this very venue hoping that the rain gods let them have a go before they play the playoff. It is the first occasion of Gujarat Titans not making the playoffs after making it to the finals twice and winning once since their introduction to the league.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently placed third on the points table with GT remaining at number 8. All the teams besides Delhi Capitals and GT have 1 match to spare.
Sunrisers Hyderabad officially qualify for the playoffs.

Delhi Capitals are now officially eliminated from IPL 2024.
10:11 PM IST and Local Time: Pat Cummins head into the middle with Vettori and Muralitharan as they have a word with Virender Sharma and Nand Kishore. Shubman Gill joins them. Players shake hands, and the MATCH HAS BEEN ABANDONED.
10:04 PM IST and Local Time: Umpires Virender Sharma and Nand Kishore slowly walk towards the ground, only to open their respective umbrellas. They move towards the groundsmen and have a conversation. We will have an official confirmation soon. All in all, things aren't looking positive. A long long discussion between the match officials and groundstaff. Players are peeping out from their respective dressing rooms.

Okay! Vettori and Muralitharan want to sneak into the conversation. The two on-field umpires move away from the crowded area on the ground and have an intense chat with folded umbrellas.
10:01 PM IST and Local Time: Umpires are wandering on the wet outfield with umbrellas. Muttiah Muralitharan has a word with one of them. And now, the legendary Sri Lanka spin wizard walks back towards the dressing room. At the halfway in the stairs, Muralitharan has been mobbed by Pat Cummins, Daniel Vettori and a few other SRH players and support staff members.
Bishal: IPL is at a different level than the rest of the league, Zeeshan!
Zeeshan: Always loved the time management in Big Bash League and T20 Blast.
Debashis: What's the point of enjoying DJ with heavy rainfall? The entire ground is covered. Plenty of water puddles have been formed. Match officials can call-off the game even now without waiting for the cut-off time. Players can get a much-needed rest.
9:36 PM IST and Local Time: The DJ is playing a few top-class Telugu hits, with the local crowd enjoying it to the full extent. It's a proper downpour.
Ayan: Loving Anirudh Ravichander's dazzling music. I couldn't stop myself in my room and just put on my dancing shoes.
9:02 PM IST, Local Time: A light show is underway at the venue, with the DJ playing some Telugu songs to entertain the fans present in the stadium and waiting for the rain to stop, which has no intention to clear at all.
8:35 PM IST and Local Time: Steady rainfall at Hyderabad. We have started to lose overs.
8:12 PM IST and Local Time: It still continues to rain! We will start losing overs from 8:35 PM. The cut-off for a five-over game is 10:56 PM.
7:44 PM IST and Local Time: HANG ON! Scratch That! The covers are back. The rain is back! It is just getting heavier. More covers have come on.
UPDATE: TOSS AT 8 PM and MATCH START AT 8:15 PM
