So, KKR move to 14 points and they are on the brink of qualifying for the playoffs. MI, meanwhile, are on the cusp of getting eliminated from IPL 2024. The action shifts to Bengaluru tomorrow where RCB will be hosting GT. Do join us tomorrow for that mouth-watering clash.

For now, it's time for us to take your leave. This is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentators Deepak Prakash, Ninaad Dixit and Sidharth Gulati and scorer Paras Yadav. Tata. Bye Bye.
Venkatesh Iyer (Player of the Match): "As a professional cricketer I wanted to be flexible. As I was hitting the ball well, I played the anchor's role and it turned out well.

This is the 4th or 5th time that Manish had padded up and finally he got to bat today. Its all due to the impact player rule. It was good to send someone like Manish to anchor the innings before Russell and Ramandeep.

I told it will take time to adjust to the wicket. We had the cushion of time. He was the one who was guiding me throughout. Which bowler to take on, which situation to take in. He is an experienced campaigner.

I have tried to be a smarter cricketer. If you are smart than you can make decisions. I could take on Piyush Chawla or any other seamer but I had to play according to the situation.

I am a huge fan of dada so I asked to ask him about my stance and position. I tried that in the nets and it has worked out for me. It was a fruitful conversation with him (Sourav Ganguly).
Venkatesh Iyer is the Player of the Match
Shreyas Iyer (Kolkata Knight Riders Captain): "Yeah, absolutely. Just having the conversation with Starcy about the importance of this game. If we had lost this, we had to win two out of four. Really happy to win it.

(On KKR beating MI at Wankhede after 12 years) Just got to know after the match. It's a beautiful victory for us. We would have loved to cherished it for longer but we have got a game in two days. So, have to focus on the recovery.

This impact rule has helped us in this game. Manish is a wonderful player and it was good to see him build a partnership along with Venky. All I had to say at the bowlers was that if we got here, we will be able to defend it.

The spinners were unreal. They were spot on with their lines and lengths. They executed all the plans that we had discussed during team meetings and it was brilliant.

(On Venkatesh Iyer's knock) Fantastic one. He is been eagerly waiting to go out there and show his abilities. Wonderful flow of the bat. He played beautifully and happy for him."

Varun Chakaravarthy (Kolkata Knight Riders): "Extremely good to win at Wankhede after 12 years. (When Tim David was batting) It was just a matter of one wicket.

"Despite Suryakumar's (Yadav) innings, we were confident. We were under-par with the bat, but we stuck to the plans with the ball. There was dew, but somehow we controlled our emotions.

"We planned extensively for this match. Luckily, it worked out.

"The batters told that the ball's stopping a bit. However, the wicket played out better in the second innings. There wasn't much help (for the spinners) because of the dew.

"Sunny (Sunil Narine) is a legend. It's glad to be bowling alongside him.

"A very special win. We were down and out in the first innings. The way (Manish) Pandey and Venky (Venkatesh Iyer) pulled it back was great."
Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians Captain): "I mean, obviously, in the batting innings, we could not form partnerships and kept losing wickets; and in T20, if you keep losing wickets, it's always going to cost. Obviously there are a lot of questions, but I think that will take some time to answer. But for now, not much to say.

As you mentioned, I think the bowlers did a fantastic job, the wicket got a little better after the first innings, and the dew came on. We will go through the game and see what could we have done better.

I mean, you keep fighting. That's what I keep telling myselfβ€”never leave the battlefield. Tough days come, but so do good days, as long as you stay. Challenges are part of life, but they also make you better."

11:15 PM IST, Local Time: That’s it. Look at Mitchell Starc. He lets out a big roar after cleaning up Gerald Coetzee and puts an end to this contest. The wait is over. The Kolkata Knight Riders register a win over the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium after 12 long years. Their last win over the Mumbai-based franchise came way back in 2012. A solid all-round effort from the Knight Riders tonight sees them win the game by 24 runs. The Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, can get to only 12 points and need a miracle from here on to qualify for the playoffs of the IPL 2024.

Chasing 170, Ishan Kishan got knocked over by Mitchell Starc on 13 in the second over. Naman Dhir struggled a bit and fell after scoring a run-a-ball 11. Sunil Narine dismissed Rohit Sharma on 11 as the hosts reeled at 46/3 at the end of the powerplay. It was a short stay for Tilak Varma as he departed on four. Suryakumar Yadav looked settled at the crease but lacked support from the other end.

The Knight Riders bowled beautifully in the middle overs and the pressure kept building on the hosts. Nehal Wadhera (6) and Hardik Pandya (1) were dismissed as the hosts were reeling at 71/6 in the 12th over. Suryakumar shifted his gears and brought up his fifty off just 30 balls. He fell on 35-ball 56. Tim David kept his side in the hunt. He scored 24 but holed out in the deep in the penultimate over.

Mitchell Starc showed his class in the end. He picked up three wickets in the penultimate over and made sure that his side emerges victorious. The Mumbai Indians got knocked over on 145 in 18.5 overs to lose the game by 24 runs. Starc registered figures of 4/33 in his 3.5 overs for the Knight Riders. Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine bowled brilliantly and registered identical figures of 2/22 which helped them defend the total successfully.

Earlier, the Kolkata Knight Riders were asked to bat first. They had a horrible start. Philip Salt fell to Nuwan Thushara on five in the very first over. Thushara picked up two more wickets by dismissing Angkrish Raghuvanshi (13) and Shreyas Iyer (6) in the third over. Hardik Pandya cleaned up Sunil Narine (8) in the fifth over as the Knight Riders finished the powerplay on 57/4. Rinku Singh departed cheaply on nine right after the fielding restrictions.

Venkatesh Iyer along with impact player Manish Pandey led the recovery work for the visitors. Both kept rotating the strike regularly and found odd boundaries. Venkatesh brought up a well-composed fifty off 36 balls. Venkatesh and Pandey put 83 between them before the latter fell on 42 in the 17th over. The Knight Riders lost their way in the death overs. They failed to finish with a flourish as they got bundled out on 169 in 19.5, with Venkatesh top-scoring with 70 for them.

Nuwan Thushara and Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets each for the Mumbai Indians. Bumrah conceded only 18 runs whereas Thushara was on the expensive side, conceding 42 runs in his four overs. Hardik Pandya also chipped in with a couple of scalps. Their batters then faltered in the chase as they fell short by 24 runs.

Stick around for the post-match presentation.
