That concludes the one-sided contest from the 'City of Joy,' folks! KKR make a triumphant return to winning ways, comfortably defeating LSG by 8 wickets with 26 balls to spare. Stay tuned because the second match of the double-header is right around the corner. Just switch tabs and get ready to enjoy the high-voltage clash between two of the best teams in the IPL, CSK vs MI.

For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of co-commentators AkshayaKrishna Polya and Akshay Bhide, who, along with scorers/analysts Paras Yadav and Manish Bishnoi, brought all actions of this clash. CHEERS!
Phil Salt (Player of the Match): "I said this one before the game today. I felt like I was melting. I'd only been out here two minutes. I don't know, to be honest with you. Just sort of kept going. Shreyas was good in the middle, kept me on task, and good to get another win at home.  Yeah, I feel like before the lights came on, it was a little bit slower. To be honest, I don't think it dewed up when the lights came on. However, there was a little bit more moisture to help the ball slide on a fraction. So I think that aspect improved for our innings. I'd say in India it's probably the most similar to conditions at home. You know, the ball bounces a little bit more, you can sort of aim squarer. I love being with KKR. Shreyas and GG have instilled a great deal of confidence in me."
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: PHIL SALT
Shreyas Iyer (Kolkata Knight Riders Skipper): "Yeah, certainly. The way we played this game was a comprehensive victory. Coming back and winning the game was an icing on the cake.

It was important to bowl slower ones. The wicket was getting slower and we wanted to minimize the half-volleys and asking the batters to use their power.

When we got wickets in between, it gave us that advantage to go with the attacking effort. The spinners have been brilliant and they were ready to bowl. The attitude that they showed was exceptional.

It is an advantage. But I have to say that this is a funny tournament and you have to stay in the present. You have to stay on the top of your game and grab the opportunity whenever it arises. Just carry forward the momentum and keep doing the right things consistently."

Sunil Narine (KKR): “I think the situation of the game, we started very well in the powerplay. I just tried to keep tight as possible and see how it goes in the end.

(On not conceding a boundary in his four overs) The first thing to do is to keep it tight as possible. Some games it happens, some games it doesn’t happen. But that’s what you want to do as a spinner.

Two in two here and the guys are keen and fully fit. Everyone is enjoying it and when you have fun, the results go your way.

(On Shamar Joseph) The figures didn’t tell the story. But Shamar bowled with a good pace and he was giving everything. He was a bit unlucky.

Salt was fantastic today. He has been very consistent for us in the tournament and it's about the batters who are set to go all the way.

(On representing West Indies in the T20 World Cup 2024) I’ll be watching from the home Badree (laughs)."
KL Rahul (Lucknow Super Giants Skipper): “Yeah, one of those days. It was a proper hammering. Sometimes, games like these are tough to digest. But that always happen in cricket and every team goes through those in IPL. We’ll try to go back and work out where we got wrong.

It was the other way around. Once the lights were on, the ball started nipping. In the first innings, the wicket was good. I can’t play we played bad shots. But we kept losing wickets in bunches and it creates more pressure on the batting unit. I felt we left at least 30 runs there and if our lower-order batters had stayed there, we could have got to a good total.

Shamar was excited to bowl. He was a bit off with his lines but he bowled quick and got the ball to nip. He has to work on his consistency a bit.

Not panicking but you can’t put your feet up and hope the results go your way. We will look to see where we went wrong and have some difficult conversations. But in the last few games, we haven’t been able to get past 160 and we’ll work on it."
6:59 PM IST, Local Time: A thumping win for Kolkata Knight Riders as they beat Lucknow Super Giants by 8 wickets and 26 balls to spare. This is KKR's first-ever win against LSG. LSG had never lost after scoring 160+ while batting first. Now, they have lost two in a row after doing so.

Earlier, after being invited to bat first, LSG managed to post 161/7 in 20 overs. They got off to a shaky start, losing Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda cheaply inside the powerplay. KL Rahul and Ayush Badoni started building the partnership, but their progress was halted by Russell, who trapped Rahul for 39 runs and ceased the 39-run partnership between the duo. Badoni took his time to settle on the crease but failed to convert it into a big score, departing for 29 runs off 27 balls.

LSG lost a couple of wickets in quick succession but Nicholas Pooran stepped up with 35-ball 45 runs, helping the visitors cross the 160-run mark.

Mitchell Starc shone with the ball for KKR, bagging three wickets, while Vaibhav Arora, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Andre Russell contributed a solitary wicket for the hosts.

In pursuit of 161 runs, KKR lost Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi for a mere 6 and 7 runs, respectively, with both falling prey to the guile of Mohsin Khan. Philip Salt and Shreyas Iyer paired up in the middle and the former went honkers and bonkers from the word go, pummeling LSG bowlers all around the park and adding an unbeaten 120 runs between them. Salt remained unbeaten on 89 runs, while Shreyas remained unbeaten on 38 runs, guiding KKR to a resounding victory by 8 wickets with 26 balls to spare.

Mohsin Khan delivered a couple of quick wickets within the powerplay for LSG, setting them off to a promising start. However, they struggled to maintain the momentum and leaked runs at regular intervals, losing the game inside the 16 overs.

Stay tuned for the presentation...
15.4 R Bishnoi to P Salt
4 FOUR!!!! That's it. Salt finishes things in style. A commanding victory for the Kolkata Knight Riders who thump the Lucknow Super Giants by eight wickets and get back to winning ways in front of their home crowd. This was a long hop from Bishnoi on the pads, Salt is very quick to pick the length as he swivels and helps it on its way past short fine leg for a boundary. Beats deep square leg comfortably and puts an end to this contest.
15.3 R Bishnoi to P Salt
0 Good length on the stumps, a leg-break, 101.8 kmph, Salt pushes it straight back to the bowler.
15.2 R Bishnoi to S Iyer
1lb Darted in on the pads, 93.2 kmph, Shreyas advances and looks to flick it but misses. Wears it on the outside half of the front pad and takes a leg bye as the ball rolls in front of short fine leg.
