That's it from our coverage from the opening T20I of the series between Pakistan and New Zealand. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ayan Chatterjee and scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world.
10:50 PM IST, 10:20 PM Local Time: The rain returns and it is handshakes all over. The match has been called off and ends in no result. The cut-off time was up and the least a T20I match can have is a 5-over clash. With the time running out, the decision has been taken to call the game off as the match was already reduced to the 5-over per side margin.

The toss was delayed due to rain by half an hour. Reinstated captain Babar Azam tossed it in the visitor's favor with skipper Michael Bracewell electing to bat first at Rawalpindi where the chasing side has won all the games in the format so far.

Just as debutant Tim Robinson was ready to face Shaheen Afridi for the first ball, the rain gods thundered into the park putting the players out for almost 2 hours.

The game was cut to 5-overs per side with a 2 over powerplay allowing 2 bowlers to bowl a couple of overs each through the innings. Robinson got a couple of leg byes on the first ball but was cleaned up by Shaheen on the next.

Just as Mark Chapman made his way to bat at number 3, the rain took off yet again and this time umpire Aleem Dar shook hands with Shaheen, skipper Babar with the match finishing without a result.

It was a packed Rawalpindi stadium but the fans will be heading back with lots of disappointed hoping for a cracker of a game. Shaheen's early strike - which was the 14th occasion of him taking a wicket in the first over of a T20I - would have rejoiced the fans but overall those were the only couple of deliveries bowled in the match.

Afridi does it again as Robinson departs second ball. Pakistan are on their way.
0.2 S Afridi to T Robinson
W BOWLED HIM! A silver duck on debut for Robinson! Shaheen continues to be a deadly weapon in the first over of a T20 match. 14th wicket in the first over of a T20I. Bowls a good length delivery swinging back in from the middle stump. Lands on the seam and holds its line. Robinson from the front foot looks to hit it across in the leg side. Plays the wrong line all over and has to take the long walk back as the ball hits the top of middle and leg stumps! Pakistan start off in style!
0.1 S Afridi to T Robinson
2lb Over the wicket. Fuller delivery swinging back and hitting Robinson's pads as he fails to get bat down in time. Rizwan dives to his left deflecting the ball further away in the fine leg region. NZ start off with 2 leg byes.
10:46 PM IST, 10:16 PM Local Time: The match is set to resume now. The Pakistan team is in a huddle and out come the two New Zealand openers. Tim Seifert and Tim Robinson walk in again to start the proceedings. Shaheen Afridi will start the proceedings for Pakistan.
Revised Playing Conditions:

- 5 overs per side

- Powerplay 1-2 overs

- 2 bowlers can bowl a maximum of 2 overs each
10:40 PM IST, 10:10 PM Local Time: It is going to be a 5-overs per-side contest. First ball to be bowled on 10:17 PM Local time (10:47 PM IST).
10:24 PM IST, 9:54 PM Local Time: Live visuals show that all the covers have come off the ground. The super sopper is doing its work. Looks like we may sneak in a rain reduced game tonight. Stay tuned for further updates.
10:13 PM IST, 9:43 PM Local Time: Some movement on the field as the covers are slowly being peeled off. The square covers are coming off and the super sopper is on the job to make the ground ready. The big cover from the pitch is removed but it is still under some kind of wraps.
9:54 PM IST, 9:24 PM Local Time: The cut off time for the match to start and for a 5-over game is 10:10 PM Local Time (10:40 PM IST) is what we are hearing from the venue. The covers are firmly in place.
9:24 PM IST, 8:54 PM Local Time: The square is completely covered along with the run up area on both the ends.
9:15 PM IST, 8:45 PM Local Time: The rain seems to have eased off a bit but it is still falling and the covers are firmly in place. The ground has taken a beating and it will take time for the ground staff to get the ground once the rain subsides. Stay tuned for further updates.
8:56 PM IST, 8:26 PM Local Time: The rain continues to fall at the Rawalpindi Stadium. Nothing much to update at this moment.
