That's it from our coverage of the thrilling encounter between IPL's two latest entrants. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentators AkshayaKrishna Polya, Deepak Prakash and scorers/analysts Raju Khariya and Chandan Kumar Singh. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world.
Yash Thakur (Player of the Match): "I am happy for the first 5-wicket haul and first player of the match award. I saw Gill trying to make some room and hit in the leg side as there were 2 fielders behind square. Rahul bhai told me to bowl at my plan.

Unfortunate to lose Mayank bhai but the skipper told me that its your day and you will win us the game.

Last 2 seasons we never won against them so very happy to win against them today. Shubman's wicket was the most special one."
Player of the Match: Yash Thakur
KL Rahul (Lucknow Super Giants Captain): "We'll take the win, I am not going to make too much out of it. I think for the young bowling group that we have, it helps when we bat first and they get a bit of an idea of how the wicket's playing and they've also been adapting really well.

[On 100% record of defending 160+ total] Yeah, it's a good record to have, obviously. But I also think it's because of where we've played and the conditions. Last time we played here in Lucknow, the wickets were very low-scoring, and it's a low-scoring ground. So, we defended quite well there. Having that home advantage obviously helps a little bit. And yes, I mean, the bowlers have come through the ranks in the last couple of years. You've seen the same guys playing last season as well, and they've adjusted to their roles. They're reading the wickets really well.

That's something that I try to discuss with them a lot more off the field and even during practice. The three spinners have performed excellently. Sid opens the bowling and provides steady performances, often restricting the batters. KP, with his vast IPL experience, adds value, and Bishnoi keeps improving. It's satisfying to start well against such strong opponents."
Most Fours of the Match: Marcus Stoinis (4 Fours)
Super Sixes of the Match: Nicholas Pooran (3 Sixes)

LSG have a 100% record while defending in excess of 160 runs in IPL.
Krunal Pandya (LSG): "Obviously, when I went to bat, I had only two balls to face with. But I did ask the rest of the batters about the behaviour of the pitch. Pooran said that it was a good wicket, and we were probably 15-20 short.

We aim to bowl according to the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition batters. On some days, it works. On other days, it does not. One of those days was when I was able to execute what I wanted. The way we have been defending throughout the tournament feels great. It gives that extra confidence. I am ready to get hit over mid-wicket rather than through the off-side. At the end of the day, it's about trusting the process and executing the plans.

I don't know what exactly happened with Mayank Yadav, but I had a couple of seconds with him. So, I think he is okay to continue in future matches. That is a positive news for us. He was bowling well in the nets earlier and last season before missing the tournament due to an injury. Whatever conversation I have had, whatever we see, he has a good head on his shoulder. Really excited to see how his carer pans out."
This is Lucknow Super Giants' first win against Gujarat Titans in IPL.
Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans Captain): "I think it was a good wicket to bat on, to be honest. It was just a really poor batting performance from us. We got a decent start but we lost it in the middle overs and we were never able to get back to momentum or we were never able to recover from that. To restrict them to 160 on a wicket like this was impressive. We were expecting them to score around 175-180, but to limit them to 160 was a tremendous effort by the bowlers. Our batters let us down.

[Talking about Miller] He's the kind of player who can change the game for you anytime. We had a couple of hinges in this game, but irrespective of that, this total was very gettable for us.

I thought it was the last over of the power play. We got off to a decent start. I just wanted to capitalize on the last over of the power play. With everyone up on the offside, I wanted to give myself a bit of room. As for the ball I got out to, I was actually trying to play it a bit square, but I missed it.

He's (Umesh Yadav) someone who's very experienced, and even Darshan, the way our bowlers bowled in this game, as I've already mentioned, was tremendous to watch. They got off to a decent start, and to restrict them to around 160-165 runs was what we were hoping for."
11:11 PM: If the afternoon fixture belonged to the batters, the evening fixture belonged to the bowlers. Both pacers and spinners alike as Lucknow Super Giants defeat Gujarat Titans by 33 runs defending 163/5 on this double header Sunday.

Batting first, LSG had healthy contributions from Marcus Stoinis (58), KL Rahul (33), Nicholas Pooran (32*) and Ayush Badoni (20). Umesh Yadav (2/22) was the pick of GT bowlers with Darshan Nalkande (2/21) taking 2 as well. Rashid Khan finished with 1/28.

The chase began well with Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan adding 54 for the opening stand. Gill scored 31 and was dismissed on the final ball in the powerplay by Yash Thakur. The wicket opened the gates for the bowlers as everyone chipped in by putting the brakes and also taking wickets at regular interval.

Thakur was the pick of the bowlers finishing with career best figures of 5/30. Krunal Pandya was brilliant in the middle overs finishing his 4 overs with 3/11. Ravi Bishnoi took a screamer of a catch to remove impact player Kane Williamson and conceded only 8 runs in his 2 overs.

Rahul Tewatia, the ice man scored 30 off 25 but batted a bit too low at number 7 to affect the result. The GT middle order failed to build partnerships and were eventually bundled out for 130 in 18.5 overs, falling short by 33 runs. Stay tuned as we come back with the post match presentations.
