Mayank Yadav (Player of the Match): "I didn't think that the debut would go this way. Have heard from everyone that there is nervousness but after bowling the first ball, the nerves settled.
Everyone told me to bowl on the stumps and use the pace. At first, there was a thought to use the slower balls but after the wicket assisted me, my captain told me to bowl fast.
I enjoyed my maiden wicket. I had kept my goals that I would make my debut at a young age. But that wasn't the case. But happy with my performance tonight."

Nicholas Pooran (Lucknow Super Giants Captain): "First of all, thanks to the almighty. It's been a wonderful start. We wanted a victory tonight, and it was wonderful to win in front of the home crowd.
At the start of the tournament, we chatted about getting off to a good start and about getting the right combinations. Between Stoinis and me, it depends on the match situation.
199 was par. It has a few bigger boundaries. One side short. One of the fewest venues where it has longer boundaries. It's about getting wickets and getting boundaries. It's only going to get challenging.
Shikhar and Bairstow played well. They didn't take the game away from us, as we got wickets at the right time.
That was an inspiring performance. Mayank is a young guy. He showed the entire world how good he is. It's not only about pace. He is not only fast but also accurate. It's the beauty of the IPL that allows the local players to perform. It's a wonderful platform. Every game is an opportunity; expect them to get better.
The groundsmen have contributed. As a batter, you can't ask for anything more."

Morne Morkel (LSG Bowling Coach): "Very happy with the win tonight. Getting on the board is a nice feeling. After the first six overs, our bowlers did well. Mayank bowled with some serious heat and did a fine job.
It was a tough season for him (Mayank Yadav) last year. He got injured in our first warm-up match and had to pull out from the whole season. We are nurturing him this year and it was good see him go tonight.
We have just asked the boys to do the basics right tonight. It was important to use that long side and I guess we made good use of two bouncers tonight. For us, it’s about unknown. We didn’t know how the wicket would play. We have been disciplined with the basics. Use the bigger pockets and ask the batters to hit from the same lengths. Tonight, it was nice to see the improvement. Happy with two points tonight.
It’s quite hard work sitting there in dugout. Lots of emotions and it’s always nice to sit in the commentary box. But I’m enjoying my role here.”

Shikhar Dhawan (Punjab Kings Captain): “They played well of course. I felt Livi's injury didn't help us. He could have come in to bat at four. But Mayank bowled well and his pace outsmarted us.
(On facing Mayank Yadav) It was nice facing him. He surprised me because he was bowling fast. But I had to use my experience. I thought he would bowl bouncers but he bowled a yorker and I got a leg bye.
I was quite mindful and I told them to use the short side. I told Prabh to use his pace but he bowled on the body and got him. I also told Jitesh to play him out and will cash on later. But he bowled well and they didn’t let the pressure off us.
We have got to analyze. We have to take catches. In the last game, we dropped Virat and today, we dropped KL. We have to plan better. Talking is one thing and implementing is another.”
