Milestone
That is the end of another mouth-watering fixture from the PSL 2024. Peshawar Zalmi climbed to the top of the points table. Karachi Kings ended the tournament on a low. Tomorrow, in the last league match, it's Quetta vs Multan. For now, it's me AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Hiren Kumar, who, alongside our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav brought you all the live-action of this wonderful game of cricket. We will meet again. Until then, its cheers!
Babar Azam (Player of the Match and Peshawar Zalmi Captain): "We were not expecting the pitch to turn that much when we came to the ground and checked on the pitch before the game. We thought a score of 160 was gettable batting first. Never expected it to soften and turn that much.

The goal is always to perform at the top-level and improve ourselves in any tournament. That is the goal. Playing and improving day by day. The need of the team is taken care of first, and then comes the individual performance.

Credit to the boys. They bowled well on this pitch. Saim Ayub bowled superbly well. Despite not being a regular spinner, he turned up and performed. The youngsters were at their best. This is the beauty of PSL when youngsters perform well. We'll try not to repeat mistakes in playoffs.

I was ready and warmed up to bowl, but was not required."
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Babar Azam
Super Power of the Match: Naveen-ul-Haq
Energetic Batter of the Match: Rovman Powell
Moment of the Match: Naveen-ul-Haq
Shan Masood (Karachi Kings Captain): "We targeted the fifth win coming into this game. We couldn't cross the line. Two close games that could have gone either side put us in a better position.

When we won 2 out of 3 games. Then we were hit by a stomach bug. Unfortunately, we had to chop and change, which affected our momentum.

Some other results also didn't go our way. I am very grateful to the team and the management. The viral bug meant we had to group together again. I also couldn't get the runs as I was supposed to. I would want to thank the fans and the organisers. It has been a wonderful tournament."
Daren Sammy (Head Coach of Peshawar Zalmi): "It feels good. It was our objective to finish in the top two. Credit to the boys. Babar Azam has led them very well.

At halfway, we were in the game with the way the pitch was behaving. The seamers had the onus to deliver. All the seamers did the job.

Jamal held his nerve. We are happy to qualify in the top two. The first game our team played here, we thought 150-160 was a winning total. We know what to do going into the playoffs."
1:14 AM IST and 12:44 AM Local Time: What a thriller we have had tonight here in Karachi! Peshawar Zalmi come on top of it and win the game by just 2 runs, confirming their spot in the Qualifier! This is the lowest total defended by the Zalmi in this season of the PSL.

Opting to bat first, Babar Azam and Saim Ayub gave a good start on a tricky surface, adding 55 for the first wicket. Zahid Mahmood broke the stand with the wicket of Ayub. Wickets fell at regular intervals, and there were no big partnerships in the middle phase of the game. Babar held an end up and hit another half-century but was run out immediately, hitting 51 from 46 balls.

Rovman Powell slammed 30 off 18 balls to give some life to the total as Peshawar ended on 147/6 in 20 overs. Mahmood, Daniel Sans, Arafat Minhas, who was superb, and Hasan Ali scalped a wicket each for the Kings.

James Vince and Tim Seifert set off to a flyer, chasing 148 and adding 61 for the first wicket. Once Vince was dismissed by Naveen-ul-Haq for a 27-ball 21, Karachi lost their way. Shan Masood didn't trouble the scorers and finished his poor PSL with the bat with a duck. Seifert fought hard for his 30-ball 41 and kept his team in the hunt.

At one stage, Karachi were 68/3 in 10.3 overs following the dismissal of the Kiwi. Shoaib Malik and Irfan Khan Niazi steadied the ship with a 49-run stand for the 4th wicket. Once Malik (22 off 25) was cleaned up in the 18th over, the pressure increased on the young batter Niazi (39* off 26), who failed to finish it off despite a couple of streaky boundaries from Anwar Ali (14* off 6) in the final over bowled by Aamir Jamal, with 17 runs to defend.

Naveen's figures of 4-1-22-2 were simply brilliant. Luke Wood picked up the big wicket of Pollard in the penultimate over where he gave just 8 runs. Ayub and Jamal grabbed a wicket each too.

Stay tuned for the presentations!

19.6 A Jamal to Niazi
1b Aamir Jamal finishes it in style for Peshawar Zalmi! What a delivery to win the game for his side! Jamal runs across, sprints around the ground, and calls everyone to join the celebration. He is over the moon and pumped up. Peshawar go to the top of the table and confirm the spot in Qualifer. Nails the yorker, following the batter, backing away down the leg side. Niazi fails to get his bat down in time and misses it all together to the diving keeper to his left. Haris has done to grab it behind the stumps, despite having a poor day with the gloves on. The batters sneak in a bye run but that doesn't bother Peshawar as they win a last-ball thriller by 2 runs!
A conference with the bowler. Powell and Babar with the advice. Karachi Kings need 4 off the last ball. Can Niazi finish it off in style?
19.5 A Jamal to A Ali
1 Short ball, pace on, at the right shoulder of the batter around the off-stump. Ali is hurried by its pace, is late on the wild hack across the line. A top edge that lands in the open short mid-wicket region for a single as the bowler runs across to field.
19.4 A Jamal to A Ali
4 FOUR MORE!!! How about that one! Back-to-back boundaries and all are lucky ones for the Kings! 5 more runs needed to win in the last 2 balls. Good length delivery at the leg stump. Ali clears his front leg, swings hard across the line, gets an inside edge and again nut-megs himself. It flows between his legs and past short fine leg to his right for another lucky yet handy boundary.
19.3 A Jamal to A Ali
4 FOURRRR!!! What can Jamal do about that? Nothing, to be honest! Brilliant yorker at the leg stump. Anwar takes his front leg out of its way and squeezes it off the inside edge. It flows between his legs towards deep backward square leg for a boundary.
13 runs from 4 balls for the Kings.
