That wraps up our coverage of this PSL game between the Karachi Kings and the Peshawar Zalmi. For now, it will be Soumarya Dutta, taking your leave on behalf of my co-commentator Anirudh Modi and our scorer/Analyst Yogesh Kumar. See you soon!
Shan Masood, Karachi Kings- "It's about how we respond irrespective of our performance. The bowling attack took a lot of responsibility and it set us up for the game. One event always depends on the other, Shoaib Malik's wicket was important. We bowled first because the pitch would dry up later in the game. Hasan Ali and Mir Hamza hit the seam and got something of the wicket. For me, we must have a process and a purpose. We did a lot of good things against Multan and we took the positives from there. We had a good atmosphere in the dressing room and enjoyed each other's company. We executed our plans really well today. We've got some great captains in the side and we have Bopara sitting out. Pollard showed why he is one of the most aggressive players in the format. "
Mir Hamza (Player of the Match): "Thank you so much, I'm happy because we have won the match. The bowlers bowled very well, both Sams and Hasan, and later on all the batters took us home to victory.

Shan and all Karachi Kings management have given me the responsibility to pick wickets in the powerplay and it is important in T20 cricket. I got a little bit moisture from the pitch and I was trying to take wickets for my team.

I was trying to swing the ball both ways for both batters, you just have to play at the minds of the batter and that's it."
Player of the Match: Mir Hamza!
Superpower of the Day: Kieron Pollard!
Batter of the Match: Kieron Pollard!
Moment of the Match: Shoaib Malik's first ball wicket of Saim Ayub!
Babar Azam becomes the leading run-scorer in PSL 2024! (140 runs in 2 games) He gets the Hanif Mohammed cap!
Time for the post match presentation ceremony..
Babar Azam-" We lost too many wickets in the middle overs and the wicket of Powell changed the game. 180 should have been possible and it would have been a different ball game all together. The wicket was two paced in the first hour and it was a wicket where innings building was important. The surface became normal after two hours. Thanks to the almighty as I have reached a milestone but it would have been better if we would have won this game. "
Kieron Pollard: "I still got it, who said I did not? A lot of new guys, new coaching staff and these things tend to happen when you are trying to find the balance, we did not get it in the first game but we executed well today and even after the shaky start we got the victory.

Waqar has been doing well over the last couple of years, I've been playing with him and we just won a tournament in ILT20 and it was an opportunity for me to take the team towards the W. Malik and Vince did very well consolidate in the middle.

The coaching staff gives the younger players the opportunity to express themselves and instill calmness in the dressing room which is important in franchise tournaments. Credit to them for doing that even when we were in a bad position."
18:03 IST, 17:33 Local time - James Vince finishes things off in style with a boundary and the Karachi Kings have notched up a thumping win against the Peshawar Zalmi here! They win by 7 wickets with 19 balls to spare and they've gotten off to 157/3 in 16.5 overs. It was Kieron Pollard, the veteran Trinidadian who turned back the clock and played an unbelievable knock to snatch the game away from the opposition. He finishes off with 49 runs from just 21 balls and it has been a match winning knock.

Shan Masood and Mohamamd Akhlaq got the Kings off to a good start but it didn't last long as Masood fell into the trap of Luke Wood.  Akhlaq belted a few away against Zeeshan but he too fell against Wood as he tried to go for the boundaries. The powerplay was shared between the two sides and it was a couple of wickets for the Zalmi that it brought it back into balance.

It was down to the two experienced batters, Vince and Malik to resurrect the innings and they took their time early on. They started to tick over the singles and twos to keep the scoreboard moving and picked up a big over against Salamkheil the wrist spinner. The 50 partnership came up soon , although they did slow down a bit as they approached the time out. The Zalmi couldn't pick up a wicket in the middle overs and that increased the pressure on them.

The bowlers took some real pounding and it was the Salamkheil's over that changed the game in the favor of the Kings. Pollard whacked 27 runs of it and from there onwards there was no coming back from Zalmi. Luke Wood was excellent up front for them with the ball and he picked up a couple of wickets. Aamer Jamal and Salman Irshad were economical but they didn't have enough to do as the Pollard storm blew them away.
16.5 L Wood to J Vince
4 FOUR! That's it! James Vince seals victory for Karachi Kings in style! Pollard misses out on his half-century by a single run but he won't worry about that! Short of the wicket, on the off stump, Vince slaps it away through covers to pick up a boundary and Karachi's first victory of the season by 7 wickets!
