So that curtains down our coverage from the first ODI of the three-match ODI series between Afghanistan and Ireland. For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on the behalf of my co-commentators Ayan Chatterjee and Sidharth Gulati and our scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer. Good night.
Hashmatullah Shahidi (Afghanistan Captain): "Yes, first of all happy with my team's performance. I was nervous. They played really well out there and we had to do something special out. Fazal bowled well with the new ball. We knew about the dew and told the boys about it. First 10 overs were important and we bowled well. Fazalhaq bowled really well and bowled the yorkers at the end. Yes, they both are playing well Ibrahim and Gurbaz. They are playing positive cricket and doing well for the team. Hope they carry that on in the future as well and do well for our team. Thank You,"
Paul Stirling (Ireland Captain)- "I think they are the deserving winners as they played better than us. I don't think that the toss was a factor. The future of our ODI is looking good and we are trying a few players in this series. Harry Tector has been superb with the bat and he has always been a terrific cricketer. I believe that we will turn the tables at the end of the series, forgetting the defeat."
Rahmanullah Gurbaz (Player of the Match): "Yes, very happy with the win. Good day for the boys. We all played well. Always loved batting with Ibrahim. Wicket was not easy at start and spent time in the middle to get runs and did well in the end. Yes, they played really well. We started well with the ball. They came back well. Dew came in and the bowlers came back in the end to restrict the batters. So, credit to the bowlers. I feel excited about the  hundred and do better for the country. Always want to perform for my team to the fullest. That is my aim."
Player of the Match: Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
Stylish Player of the Match- Harry Tector
Time for the presentations.
Mohammad Nabi: "Yes, it was a big partnership there. Wicket was good and dew was there. We bowled tight lines and lengths and got rewards. Yes, Gurbaz played well and showed his class after a few bad knocks. Tough to bowl yorkers and Farooqi did a really good job there with the wet ball. Yes, so far so good. Hitting is going well and hope to do well in the coming games. So far so good."
01:00 IST and 23:30 Local Time | Afghanistan are coming out with flying colours in the first ODI of the series against Ireland. They have got a victory by 35 run margin.

Batting first, the home side got off to a advantageous position, thanks to the two openers. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran added 150 runs batting 31 overs in the first innings for their opening partnership. They started the run chase slowly but accelerated quickly. Ibrahim Zadran got out scoring 60 runs from 93 balls hitting  4 boundaries and a couple of maximums. But Gurbaz continued to bat according to his potential and brought up his 6th ODI century for Afghanistan which made him sit in the same rank with Mohammad Shehzad in terms of scoring the most number of hundred for the Afghanistan team. He got out for 121 runs from 117 balls hitting 8 boundaries and 6 maximums. But the run flow didn't stop for the hosts as skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi quickly added 50 runs from 33 balls with 6 boundaries and a maximum. The well experienced Mohammad Nabi added 40 runs facing 27 balls hitting 3 boundaries and 2 maximums. That helped the Afghanistan side to reach 310 losing 5 wickets after the 50th over.

Theo van Woerkom was the star of the bowling spell. He has taken 3 wickets. Graham Hume and Craig Young took one wicket each.

Coming to chase the run, the Ireland side were in deep trouble as they lost three of their top order batters cheaply. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Azamatullah Omarzai was too brilliant for them. Andrew Balbirnie(4), Paul Stirling(5) and Curtis Campher(9) went back cheaply. But Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector stitched a mammoth partnership between them for the fourth wicket. The duo batted for 173 legal deliveries and added 173 runs between them. Lorcan Tucker took the onus of attacking and added 85 runs from 76 balls hitting 8 boundaries and 2 maximums. On the other side, Harry Tector was defensive in his approach but found boundaries at loose deliveries. He registered his 5th ODI century and continued his innings despite having cramps. But the Ireland side lost a few wickets in the middle overs. George Dockrell, Mark Adair and Andy McBrine got out cheaply and the ask for the final over was 42 runs. In that over, Harry Tector got out to Gulbadin Naib for 138. He decorated his innings with 9 fours and 3 sixes. His efforts were not enough for the Ireland side to win the game and they remained short of 35 runs from the victory.

Fazalhaq Farooqi was the star of the bowling show picking up 4 wickets for 51 runs. Azmatullah Omarzai took a couple of wickets for 47 runs. Noor Ahmad was a bit expensive as he gave 61 runs away from 10 overs. Gulbadin Naib bowled only 6 overs and took the wicket of Tector giving 38 runs away.
